Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
There's one in my school's basement. It's highly yellowed, doesn't boot and smells funny (like my rotting IIcx).
Haven't gotten a chance to bring it home, not like i'd be able to though.
I would love to see this brought to the wiki. I give my permission for 68KMLA to use both the guide and it's photographs as part of a Wiki article, as well as hosting the photos directly on the 68kmla servers. Wouldn't want ImageShack to delete them sometime in the future.
My 1400c, which is my second-fastest Mac, fells just plain sluggish. My Performa 6300Cd, an older, slower machine running the less optimized Mac OS 7.5.5, feels quite peppy in comparison. And it even loads more extensions on startup! I heard that the 1400c has particularly slow I/O; is this the...
I've resorted to having Hypercard act as a frontend while AppleScript does the real work. Except I can't figure out how. In fact, I'm not sure whether this should be Hypercard based, AppleScript based, or an intermixture of the two.
This is what I want to do. I want to take a directory, which...
It's the only version of Mac OS that I don't have around, and yet everyone else seems to have it. Is there some spot on the internet I missed? Or perhaps an eBay store?
I was thinking of using this as the new cell pack for the PB battery:

Think it would work?
In the Powerbook 1400c, what can everyone tell me about the backup batteries? Mine seem to be dead but a few internet searches dictate that they're rechargeable. Also, my Powerbook seems to have two suck backup batteries, one on either side of the trackpad. however, Apple's manual says there's...
ALPS keyswitches are common on Apple keyboards, namely the Apple Extended, Apple Standard, M0116, etc. While they are rated for millions of actuations, sometimes they wear out a little early. This guide discusses how to fix these keyswitches.
This guide uses a 1988 Apple Keyboard (M0116), and...
I go to plug in my Apple Keyboard into my Powerbook, along with a mouse, using an S-video cable. The second I plug in, a low static-like string of pops eminate from the Powerbook's speaker. I quickly remove the cable. Powerbook refuses to boot, do a PRAM reset, and all is well. ADB even still...
That HP has to be the closest the classic Mac OS has come on running on a standards-compliant IBM PC Compatible. No ADB? No auto-detect floppy drive (note eject button in photo)? Makes me wonder how they'd get the Mac OS to work with floppies.
Still, if CHRP had taken off, consumers would have...
Is such an item available? I'd like to make myself a silent PowerBook by doing away with the hard drive.
Alternatively, are there similar convertors for SD cards?
An update: I have attempted to manufacture a replacement battery pack, using Battery 2. I put in two 4xAA battery packs, wired in series, and loaded with 8 2500mAH NiMH AA batteries. It puts out 10v, the same as Battery 1 with rounding.
The Powerbook will boot, but only for that 2 second delay...
It appears the "Put" command will work. Now here's another question: The Put command requires a textual expression (i.e. text in quotes, such as a directory). How to I tell the Put command to use the contents of a field as it's expression?
