I don't see why not! Windows 2000 does in fact support printing to AppleTalk Printers. However, I'm not sure if it has drivers for those Quickdraw driven printers.
This is the first draft in my guide in setting up Windows 2000 as a Macintosh File and Print Server capable of printing to virtually any printer attached to a networked Windows computer running any NT version of Windows.

I am lucky enough to have an LC 575 that was kept, more or less, in an excellent environment, leaving it in very good condition :sleepy: . It's not even yellowed that much.
The (SMT) caps on the logic board are visually fine - no rust, gunk, or dried puddles of electrolytic surrounding them...
I'm planning on trading in my 6300CD for something more powerful for desktop productivity work at home. ATM, my only productivity Mac is my Powerbook, but it would be more sensible to dock it to a more powerful Mac and continue work on my larger LCD monitor. That, and I need a Mac that can fit...
I FIGURED IT OUT!
Basically all I needed to do was find a way for Win 7 to receive print jobs without caring about who sent them. And what way was that?
LPD!
Tell Redmon to print to the Win 7 machine's IP, give it the share name of the Laserjet and IT WORKS!!
I will be posting a full guide...
My Linux attempt was nothing more than a few collective hours spent screwing around with NetaTalk running on Ubuntu VMWare. It's complicated to configure and when I learned about a windows alternative (pause 5 seconds for the booing and hissing), I decided that Netatalk wasn't worth my time.
As...
I have gone through a variety of different avenues (DAVE, LPD, Linux Server) to provide a bridge between Windows Printers and the Macintosh LW 8 system.
I am now trying another type of setup. All Macs connect to a Win 2000 Server PC (as Windows 2000 supports Appletalk and therefore may host...
Something happened with the pics on the page - blame ImageShack. Let's have a mod take this and move it to the wiki, with the images thumbnail'd of course.
What to do when you have two disused IBM 160MB SCSI drives and an empty drive enclosure?
Hack the enclosure so that both drives fit into one unit!
This did require modification to the scsi cable in the enclosure. I took another 50pin SCSI cable, and I disassembled one of the connectors to...
Although I love my LJ4L, I'm limited, as a classic mac user, by the fact that I haven't got an Apple printer. Only my iMac has actual printing via DAVE; everything else is PrintPDF and sneakernet.
I've considered a Personal LW NTR, which has both LocalTalk and parallel ports (which would allow...
I've invested $120 so far in my Powerbook 1400c. I'd be willing to spend more for a Q950.
Look at it this way. If you don't like it, you can probably upgrade it and resell it at a profit. Considering all the equipment you get, it sounds like it'll be fun.
I was installing 8.6 to my Powerbook via an Ethernet connection to my iMac's CD drive, as the powerbook's CD drive is broken. Unfortunately the install process had to be aborted at about %25.
reboot..., expecting to see 8.1, which was on it...., or a screwed install...
...and It's running 8.5...
