    Printing Issues

OK. I have recently set up a virtual machine running Windows 2000 Server on my 7 machine. It has all of the Mac File/Print Server features installed, as well as a redirection system to my LJ4L consisting of Redmon and GSPrint (anyone familiar with Mac printing via Windows should know what I'm...

    Mac SE CRT COLOR!

I propose a name for our future color SE/30: The SE/30c It's so Apple, isn't it?

    Thinking of buying a Newton!

By notes I really mean reminders. Personally, I don't think the eMate will ever beat a PowerBook with More 3.1 installed when it comes to college lectures. So, then looks like I'm looking at a MessagePad 2000/2100 then.

    Thinking of buying a Newton!

I've considered getting a small, PDA style computer to complement my 2G (which I am NEVER upgrading - if it's not broke, don't fix it) cellphone for some time now. As i've discovered, my weighty Powerbook simply can't be used in such a function, but hey, Apple already has a solution for me! I...

I have an extra IIsi power supply if you need one. PM me if interested.

Powerbook 1400c - Solid State Storage!

Can't really imagine why it wouldn't have a master/slave jumper. Perhaps it is then always in cable select mode? Why would you use SDHC anyway? It's much slower and doesn't offer IDE, AFAIK.

    Make an iMate?

Well, my BIOS (motherboard: ASUS P5QL-PRO) supports "Power on from PS/2 Keyboard" and "Power on from PS/2 Mouse." Nothing about USB. Hmmm.....

    Make an iMate?

Just a slightly off-topic question - is it possible to set up a PC bios in order to respond to the Power Key of an ADB keyboard?

    Make an iMate?

I just got my iMate in the mail today and I love it! Right now I'm typing with an Extended II and clicking with a Bus Mouse II, all coupled to a modern computer running Windows 7! Finally, I have a REAL keyboard with proper keys; my typing is so much better because of it. But I digress...

Powerbook 1400c - Solid State Storage!

I recommend not using a PCMCIA based converter as a permanent solution, as the CF card has a tendency to default to a very low transfer speed in those slots. An IDE converter will always offer the best performance.

    21" CRT Studio Display Issue

For compatibility's sake did you try setting the computers in question to a very low resolution with a low refresh rate, something like 640x480 at 60Hz? I've never encountered a monitor that couldn't display that sans driver.

    Good email client for 1400c?

May be going abroad this June, so email on my 1400c would be a nice feature. I just need a program that can work with IMAP (Gmail). Most of my messages are just text, so fancy ol' html doesn't have to be 100% up-to-date. What can everyone here recommend? I run OS 8.6 and have the full 64MB of RAM.

Powerbook 1400c - Solid State Storage!

I honestly think any CF card will work, as long as the Mac supports whatever DMA/PIO's the card features.

Powerbook 1400c - Solid State Storage!

I believe I used a cheap 3rd-party type. it's a simple device so I don't see what can go wrong. FYI, I have it set to 5V mode. For file copying, I simply bought a PC card to CF adapter, plugged in the card (note that at this pint I am still running from the HD), ran Drive Setup on it, copied...

First Draft: Guide: Windows 2000 as an Appletalk server

In that case, LPD isn't appropriate. Try fiddling with a TCP/IP printer port with the OfficeJet's IP. Ultimately the guide will include a section for that scenario.

LC575 64 MB SIMM memory issue

I decided to exchange it for a working 32MB module, as the seller insists that the 575 can not accept a 64MB module. I look at it this way. What could the LC 575 possibly run that would need 64MB of RAM? 32 is more than enough.
