    Mac Plus: Restoration

Okay, I successfully disassembled the plus. I believe I discharged it properly, touching the anode clips and aperture to the ground lug (via screwdriver + alligator clip wire), but I didn't hear the charcteristic "pop" sound. Just to be sure, I also discharged the clips and aperture separately...

    Mac Plus: Restoration

Thanks to some tools borrowed from my friend, I finally managed to get the case open on my Plus (never again will I ever screw in those handle screws!). Like any 25 year old computer, the Plus has suffered some damage. The case body has some substantial rust stains that my friend described as...

    1400c 12x CD Unit Repair

I heard somewhere that the 12x cd unit for the 1400 can be replaced with a generic TEAC 24x drive; the faceplate from the old 12x unit can be transferred. Is this valid? My 12x unit is completely dead.

    Performa 6400 Memory Type

Just asked the ebay seller if they're 5v or 3.3v. If they're 5v, then they'll be fine for the Performa right?

What sort of memory does the Performa 6400 use? My PC100 modules refuse to fit yet have the right # of notches.

Performa 6400: Open Transport is not loaded

Whenever I try to access AppleTalk or TCP/IP I get the following error: "The control panel could not be opened because Open Transport is not loaded." I have updated from 7.5.3 to 7.5.5 and then 8.6, and the error is yet to disappear. Hmm.... FYI: Using an Apple CSII Ethernet Card

    My "hack" IIx is working!

How did you get a modern monitor to sync with the IIx? What NuBus video card are you using?

Trying to get IIsi to display video.

First off, I'm using a Dell E152FPc monitor. I also have an IBM C50 handy as an alternative. Here are the pdf manuals for my two adapters... http://www.griffintechnology.com/sites/default/files/MonitorAdapter_MacSync.pdf and...

It boots, I know that much. It's just my monitor refuses to display anything - just goes into VESA sleep mode.

    Scheduled Startup: Powerbook 1400c

Many Macs have access to a scheduled startup and shutdown feature. The 1400 has a scheduled wake up and sleep feature, but evidently no startup and shutdown one. I'm assuming here that "wake up" means from a sleep state, not shutdown. Is there are way to implement an auto startup feature with...

Trying to get IIsi to display video.

I'm trying to use a Griffin Mac Sync Adapter (model no: 0220-UNV) and a Mitsubishi VGA-Mac DB15 adapter to get my IIsi's video to display to a Dell LCD monitor. Anyone have any experience with this, as I'm yet to be successful.

    IIx, Plus and IIsi!

I've got a surprise! I'll let the picture speak: I had NO idea that would be down there! I actually know that computer - I remember seeing it in a back office in the basement waaaaay back in Freshman year. I wanted it then, but I couldn't have it :( . But now I do have it! Btw, that...

    IIx, Plus and IIsi!

Tomorrow I'm helping out my school's environmental club bring electronics to a recycling event in Stuyvesant Town, and as part of the deal I can take whatever Mac stuff I find back in the school's basement. What I know is down there already: A Mac Plus. It's in bad shape (screen is a...

    AppleShare Auto Logon

How does one prevent Macs from attempting to log-onto previously used servers via AppleShare? If said PC's/Macs are not on the boot process will halt for several minutes attempting to find them on the network.
