LC 475 prone to cap leakage as other LCs

Hmmm, okay. The measurements on the other TDK are fine and "spot on" while nothing is connected.

LC 475 prone to cap leakage as other LCs

Measured while nothing connected to the PSU.

LC 475 prone to cap leakage as other LCs

I replaced the 8.2uf Cap with an 10uf Cap, which stabelized the PSU somewhat. The voltages are now in the expected ranges (except -5V, which is around -3,6V), but they are changeing by .1V ever so often. The other TDK PSU does not show this behaviour. I expect to receive my Apple to VGA adapter...

LC 475 prone to cap leakage as other LCs

I started renovating the machines today. I started with the PSUs as I'm waiting for parts for the boards itself. Two TDK PSUs had visual cap leakage going on. The PCBs were coated with a shiny sticky film. After removing all caps on the low voltage side I soaked them in IPA. After a short time...

LC 475 prone to cap leakage as other LCs

Okay, thanks alot. I'll count the needed caps and do another round of recapping.

LC 475 prone to cap leakage as other LCs

I got myself a lot of three LC475 and one LC. One is missing its RAM and VRAM modules, the others are complete. The batteries are flat, so I cannot test them right away. The boards look dusty but okay and they do not have any signs of cap leakage. I'd like to ask if the later LCs are also prone...

MP-F75W wont write to disks/initialize disks

Okay, than I have to do the inevitable. I'll follow the linked PDF and hope for the best not to make things worse.

MP-F75W wont write to disks/initialize disks

Okay, thanks. But could be a mis-aligned Track Zero sensor be the cause for not writing at all? I would assume if the sensor is mis-aligned wont read at all. Mine does read without problems. If I interpret https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/superdrive-floppy-maintenance.549/post-5984 correct a...

MP-F75W wont write to disks/initialize disks

Do you mean the photoelectric barrier next to the floppy cable connector? I didnt clean it after the write errors. I'm sure I cleaned it initially. I'll check.

MP-F75W wont write to disks/initialize disks

Another part in my SE30 journey. I assembled the machine and tested it. A few days ago I cleaned/lubed the floppy drive, a Sony MP-F75W, as per https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LWfjsvc8OA. In the assembled machine the drive worked at first. I could read data and write data, initialize disks...

SE / SE30 PSU voltages okay?

I connected an Molex Y-cable to the HDD power cable. From there I connected an Molex to 2*SATA power adapter and connected two old SATA notebook drives. Both do spin up and I measure 5.10V on the 5V line now. The voltage is stable for ten minutes now. I think it is safe to connect the...

SE / SE30 PSU voltages okay?

Thanks. I'll have a look if I can hack something together. I dont want to connect the precious SE30 motherboard till the voltage situation is okay. Maybe it is already ok, but I want to be sure not to fry the board.

SE / SE30 PSU voltages okay?

That is what I did and the voltages I took from there.

SE / SE30 PSU voltages okay?

I'm in the process of re-assembling my new SE30. I recapped the analog board an and did an initial smoke test. An old HDD did spin up, so I think I didn´t screw up the analog board while recapping. I did not touch anything inside the PSU at the moment. I checked the voltages with nothing...

Available replacements for Mini DIN printer/modem cable

To bring this thread to an end I came to the idea to use two "Phone Net" adapters to reach the goal. It should be equivalent to use an serial cable. But the moment I was to bid for a pair of Phone Net adapters I saw an printer/serial cable for sale. So I bought this. :-)

Available replacements for Mini DIN printer/modem cable

Sorry, I forgot to add that I'm located in Europe, so my order options are somewhat limited when taking customs and shipping costs into account. My intention of this post was that there is maybe such a cable used for a different machine/product which can be repurposed as a serial cable for...

Available replacements for Mini DIN printer/modem cable

When things work out the way I hope I soon will have an second compact Mac, an SE30 in good working order. I want to equip this machine with an BlueSCSI and want to use it as some sort of bridge machine for my other compact Mac. I learned that a simple Mini DIN can be used build a machine to...

Upgrading an SE FDHD to 4 MB doesn´t work

To finish this thread I can happily report that the machine is running fine with the mixed RAM modules. I ran Snooper RAM test in a loop for a while now and it seems fine.

Upgrading an SE FDHD to 4 MB doesn´t work

Removing the jumper is what I did. Thanks for the link to the memory guide. The guide notes to put the memory modules in slot 3/4 for a 2mb config. I found it out trial an error. Then it states for a 2,5mb config to put the higher density modules (aka the 1mb ones) in slot 1/2. The table tells...

Upgrading an SE FDHD to 4 MB doesn´t work

I fiddled around with the RAM modules out of pure interest. Two modules in Slot 1 and 2 and I have a sad Mac. The same modules in Slot 3 and 4 and the machine starts. Then I mixed modules which I normally wont do. Two Siemens modules in Slot 1 and 2, and two Samsung ones in 3 and 4, the machine...
