Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
It's a catch 22. I like to sell my machines for top dollar, to invest in new stuff, but I like to buy cheap. They aren't compatible, which makes it such an interesting hobby. I bought an iPad for $200 and sold it for $300, and a Mac Mini for $250 and sold it for $400. Take out the fees, and...
I know some of you are calling bs on this (but you've been polite by not saying it). But I am OCD on detail and only ran System 7 when using the TAM with the HDD. Shame I wasn't OCD enough to update the thread here though!
I took the logic boards out of a dozen Mac II and IIx, and came across a IIfx board. I really need to check those cases to see if it has the label from the upgrade!
No, I have a USB 1.1 card with two slots, one of those Opti cards that seem to work so well in the TAM. Never had anything FireWire.
And before anyone says it, I know it sounds very unlikely, but I am OCD on using System 7 on the TAM and definitely had this working.
When I turn mine on, it makes no difference if cards are installed or not. It still comes up with 'Apple //e' up the top.
If I have a Disk ][ connected, it makes a 'brrrr' noise that is sort of cool, as it tries to read a disk.
I had my TAM running with a USB card using System 7.6.1. The HDD corrupted recently, so I installed a CF card for quick and reliable booting. I now can't get USB working on System 7, although I know for certain that I had it working.
I asked for advice on this last month, but wasn't able to...
As long as it is operational and in nice condition, it seems like a good deal. I was able to sell broken ones (ie. PSU needed re-capping) for $100 each, or working for $200+.
Hopefully it is one of the earlier ones, before the Enhanced and Platinum.

This.
Doesn't look like you get a badge, which would explain the Mac II that I have that has a IIfx board. Came from a stash not used since the 90's, so I'm thinking it...
Wow, $5? Worth it just for the keyboard!
Looks like a simple fix, the analog board being suspect is always my biggest concern. It seems all good on that front at least.
And don't forget to turf that PRAM battery (BB 1992, lol).
I never find external drives when I come across this sort of stuff, and here you go 3 for 3!
That HD20SC is worth what you paid for all of it, so nice work!
Cool, I know a gallon is 3.78 litres and we measure stuff in cups too, so that should give me enough info to figure it out.
Sounds like I need to hit Priceline when I am back in the city, living in a small town sucks for range of products.
I am missing the felt pad and plastic insert that assists the 400K drives in reading a disk.
Two had popped out on my machines, but I was able to find one and reattach. The other probably never had this since I received it.
Any ideas on what I can use to replace this pad?
