    The TAM Appreciation Thread

I'd love a boxed one, I'm definitely a box guy but I haven't found one yet at a price I can live with. eBay is really my only option being in Australia, so either way I'd be paying through the nose.

    The TAM Appreciation Thread

I figure that many collectors could sell off some of their unused computers to pay for one of these.  That's what I would do, knowing now how great these things are. Being vertical, they don't take much space at all, and the keyboard slides under the computer.  I have the base unit behind the...

    The TAM Appreciation Thread

Well, you can upgrade from the 250MHz 603 processor to a 500MHz G3 Sonnet Crescendo card (I have the 400MHz).  This makes a massive difference, and is a card in the L2 slot in the rear.  You would need drivers and the fat back though. RAM is usually at 32MB, so bumping up to 128MB is easy.  I...

    The TAM Appreciation Thread

As most of you would already know, the TAM has a special spot in my collection.  It is the one computer that I would have to keep above all others.  So I thought I would start a TAM Appreciation Thread, for those of us with a TAM (or several, or even none.  Maybe I should have called this the...

    Mac 128k help needed!

512K boards are easy to find, and most 128Ks ended up either having a 512K board installed or the RAM being swapped to accommodate 512K.  Handy in 1985, not so much in 2014.  Finding a 128K board in there means you have to keep it as one, but it sounds like you've already decided to do just...

    Boxed SE with Extras

I have a few SE upgrades, one being the Levco Prodigy, another being the Quesse, and I have another one somewhere but forget what it is.  I'll be keeping the boxed stuff, probably don't see myself moving that stuff on unless I really had to. Oh, and I hear you had a run in with a guy over an...

Apple IIe Card - What would you put it in?

Yep.  My SE is in a white box, as were the Plus, etc.  The newer stuff came in brown boxes, like my Quadra 700 and PM6100. My manual is 1991, and one online is 1992, so I think that narrows it down.

    Nobody likes the G3 all-in-one

That's why I maxed the RAM, put a 400MHz Sonnet in, replaced the hard drive with a CF card, and popped in Ethernet and USB to make it useful.  I agree, when new, it wouldn't have been impressive compared to the rest of the Mac range, as far as performance goes, and to make them hum wouldn't have...

    Nobody likes the G3 all-in-one

I don't get the hate for the TAM.  I guess you guys also don't get the love for the TAM.

Apple IIe Card - What would you put it in?

Yep, that appears to be the newer box.  Mine is white and Made in Singapore.  Nothing about Australia on it. Looking forward to installing in the Colour Classic tonight.  The box is complete, but it doesn't seem to have the insert which was disappointing.

Apple IIe Card - What would you put it in?

I think you might be right.  The hard drive on the CC (actually, it's a Performa 250, but same same) is a basic install of System 7, so this would be perfect to partition with PRODOS.  Hmmm, I think this will be a lot of fun!

Apple IIe Card - What would you put it in?

I've seen the cable selling for near that, so I couldn't pass this up. How do you know that they were packaged here?

Apple IIe Card - What would you put it in?

Yep, you'll never get a complete one over here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-IIe-Card-Macintosh-Vintage-Mac-M0444LL-B-/141420165272?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=Bkm4QaqP%252B%252F8awINFwzwRTPJDeu0%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc Been chasing...

Apple IIe Card - What would you put it in?

I have an Apple IIe Card on the way, complete in box with install disks and that elusive Y Cable.  I'm trying to figure out which Mac to use it on, and I think I've figured it out but need a sounding board. I have an LC 575, a Mac TV (pretty sure no PDS slot - damn!), a Color Classic, and a...

How to test Apple HD20 without a Mac Plus or 512k?

Isn't "back burner" generally code for "meh, forgeddaboutit!"?  But if anyone can do it, it'll be him.

I've been meaning to try some powerline adapters I have lying around, and connect to the Ethernet port.  Makes life easy!

Compact Mac CRTs- Safe to touch and after how long?

By turning the brightness all the way up, and then yanking the power cord, you are removing the power source for that monitor, and hopefully sucking up any residual power.  It seems to be the best way to drain as much excess power out of your compact mac as possible. Just turning it off still...
