Recapping - Permanent fix to future-proof

Thanks! I'm always straight onto the batteries, but thanks for the tip!  Just picked up a tidy little stash last night, and all of them still had batteries installed.  Item number 1: remove all batteries!  Just the Classic II with Simasimac to open and check, 50/50 it's caps or leaked Maxell...

Recapping - Permanent fix to future-proof

I've been away from the hobby for a couple of years (having a baby, building a house, typical adult stuff), and have lost touch with what is happening with recapping and options. I am wondering what options are available for recapping that will be permanent (ie, never need to replace them...

I have found the 'games' folder...

I recall Maelstrom coming to me via a freeware CD, and the author was asking for donations.  What a great game!

Schmeaux's present stuff and future conquests...

Yep, I had a 5500 Director's Edition, but decided to move it on because I don't have the space, plus the plastics are terrible.  Oh, and I prefer the Mac TV anyway, so I kept the TV and sold the DE! Whittling down the collection now to the really good stuff, finally pairing each machine with a...

    TAM

Hearing buzzing matching system functions is the TAM buzz. Means your audio isn't toast, but something is stopping it from producing sound.

My apple IIe card is defective! Why?

Yep, I bought one that was defective, then got a partial refund and bought another, also defective. I was using the software disks that cans with the first one, but after downloading another version, both now work!

Yep, disks come in that tray with a Picasso lid. Love the packaging of the 128k!

    Macintosh original demo disk...

Well at least show it booting and doing its thing, and put it on Youtube.  It's like having a vintage Ferrari that you don't even look at, let alone anyone else.  I get not sharing the file, but at least share the routine with a modern HD recording.

Anyone cleaned a Mac 128k Travel Bag before?

Tried a dry cleaner, they weren't interested as it was too hard. I wet mine on the outside, used some dishwashing detergent, and scrubbed with a soft bristled brush.  Works a treat! If it is manky on the inside, you don't have much to lose in the washing machine.

    Software Disk Collection (so far)

Looks like my collection of boxed System software - except I liquidated my OS X stuff because I just don't see the point.

    The TAM Appreciation Thread

Just had a read of my conquest page for the TAM: https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/13420-twentieth-anniversary-macintosh-hail-to-the-king-baby/ Wow, can't believe how much of an old man I was with Macs back then.  Max RAM and Ethernet, that's all I wanted.  Fast forward 12 months, and...
