    ANS 700

Base weight is 60 but loaded with disks it looks like they are indeed 100. Ouch.

    ANS 700

Second heaviest. The AppleVision ColorSync 850AV monitor weighs 8 pounds more (92 total).

    Quicksilver has VGA issue

    That's IDE, not SCSI.

    Quicksilver has VGA issue

Should be a reset switch on the board.

RAM requirements for a PM G5: How specific?

It depends on the drive. Most SATA III drives don't slow down enough for SATA I.  http://g5center.net/hardware.html Some recommended drives there.

RAM requirements for a PM G5: How specific?

The slots should be numbered. So you'd have sticks in Slot 1 and Slot 2 on each bank.

RAM requirements for a PM G5: How specific?

Yes, that will work. Helps to think of it as two computers on one board; each CPU runs on its own independent bus and needs its own RAM.

RAM requirements for a PM G5: How specific?

With your DP you should try for matched pairs. Remember to install them in the opposing slots or it won't boot.

    Evie's Conquests

You use screws in the hard drives, and those slide into the tracks. https://www.ebay.com/itm/122203473839 Might be some inside near the hard drive bay already.

ADB Busboy: Adapter for USB peripherals over ADB

How is it with third party wireless stuff?

RAM requirements for a PM G5: How specific?

Heh, which G5 is it?  The only G5's that support ECC are the final Late 2005 models, but they used DDR2.

Yep, I bought an 18"er in 2014 for compacts.

AirPort Extreme Base Station: Need Software

There is an AirPort Utility in OS9 but it may not support a 2004 base station. The iOS app is an option. EDIT: the iOS app works with 802.11n stations or newer only.

AirPort Extreme Base Station: Need Software

Airport Utility built into the contemporary versions of OS X should be all you need.

Keep it in a cool room when running.

    MDD 2003 vs G5 1.8 single

Neither machine is super reliable, TBH. The 2004 1.8GHz was one of the least reliable G5's, but the MDD's on average aren't much better.  If you don't need more than two disks or one optical drive, and you don't care about running OS9 natively I'd pick the G5 though. Most of the failures on the...

Which G4 to keep: Sawtooth or Quicksilver?

Personally, I'd keep the Sawtooth simply because I think it looks better. :) If it's just for OS9 I'm not sure there's major benefits to going one way or the other, especially assuming that's a 800 single processor with only 256k L2.

    Power cords...

It's not just the Quad, all multicore G5's use that cord.

Got a great deal on a B&W G3, looking into upgrades

Projects made in Office 97 and newer won't have any major compatibility issues with Office 2016. You might see a quirk or two, but your files won't be broken or anything. I move stuff from '98 to '16 and back again often enough. Just keep in mind that the font selection in 2016 is much greater...

    Java Mac OS X.5

From your sig, I'd assume you want it to work on PPC. Not happening. And running old Java is about as bad as running Flash.
