Is the 800/840 really that bad to work on?

I'd recommend you don't ship one. The 40 odd pieces I pulled out of my 8100 weren't an anomaly.

Is the 800/840 really that bad to work on?

They're exceptionally fragile these days (the 8100 shares the case), which is a problem. Not sure about the 8xx but you have to remove the entire logic board to swap/add RAM on the 8100.

    Analog vs. newfangled Digital Multimeter?

DMMs are the way to go, really. Given the smallness of the market I'd suspect the analog ones are actually more likely to be inaccurate these days.

ATI Radeon 7000 PCI - Dual or Single Head?

DVI-D is DVI - Digital. DVI - A is Analog. DVI - I supports both.

    iMac G4 700MHz - 10.4 or 10.5?

Which 1.33GHz iBook? The 12"? If it's that model of course it runs Leopard pretty well; it has a Radeon 9550 which is Core Image capable.

    iMac G4 700MHz - 10.4 or 10.5?

Leopard really needs 2GB of RAM or more to be happy if you're planning to use it.

    iMac G4 700MHz - 10.4 or 10.5?

10.5 will run like crap on that hardware. Stick with 10.4 and keep your expectations very, very modest.

    PowerBook 520 Won't Boot

Unplug the three prong cable from the adapter (but leave the other end connected to the wall), let it sit for a bit, then plug it in again.

imac g4 installing a floppy drive

There's no PCI slot.  Nor is there a lot of room period. The hard drive sits on top of the optical drive, and the fan sits on top of that.

imac g4 installing a floppy drive

Where would you even put it?  And no, there's no controller on the board. You'd need to use a USB external.

Are Powerbook Wallstreet PDQ (1998) & Lombard (1999) 14.1" display hinges the same?

Bleh, I had one not too long ago but got rid of it. I take it yours exploded?  I'm about 99% sure the Lombard hinge won't work. The chassis are very different.

Powerbook G3's vs Ibook G3's which is better?

The Icebooks had keyboards that tended to smell like sweat socks after a while, yeah.

Powerbook G3's vs Ibook G3's which is better?

All the white iBook G3's past 600MHz are time bombs. The GPU's will fail, just a matter of when. Clamshells are tough, but getting the hard drives out for replacement is not fun. I'd go for a PowerBook with good hinges. I have a Clamshell, a PDQ, and a Pismo. Pismo wins. :)

DVD version of Tiger for G5 install?

Odd, the CD versions are usually hard to find.

    Anybody bother collecting G4/G5 Xserves?

Keep in mind the Xserves have the Apple Drive Modules you have to work with, or hack new drives in. It's not like a Power Mac where you can just slap in any drive with a couple screws.

    Anybody bother collecting G4/G5 Xserves?

The first gen Intel Xserves are pretty cheap right now AFAIK. A friend just got one and pressed it into service. Edit: said it was $80 shipped on eBay.
