Yep, payed 25 Euros for it - not bad I think. It's can get even more weird: if you want an SE/30 you should also look for an "Apple SE/30 monitor". That's the way one ebayer named his SE/30. Obviously he could not believe that there is a whole computer in it. Same with an Atari 520ST which was...
That was the reason why Apple later introduced their proprietary AAUI port. AUI has the same port as the Apple monitors of that time.
The fuse does not look blown so I first ignored it and did a lot of fiddling with software and a switch to get the external AUI transceiver to work. I learned to...
I need to change the fuse (12V, 0.5A) you can see on the pictures. Do I have to solder in a new one or can I change just the inner part of the fuse? It looks like the the whole thing consists of two end parts and an inner part but I cannot move the inner part. So maybe it is just one piece...
I bought an old SCSI and USB Zip drive (100 MB) and some disks. Allows you to transfer files from modern computers and boot the Mac into different OS versions from different disks. e.g. System 6 is definitely something to have a look at.
Same results here. System Picker can only choose between System Folders on one partition (it blesses one of them which is then used to boot).
It is actually possible to select partitions to boot from by setting the "bootable" bit of the partition. Can be done e.g. with FWB Hard Disk Toolkit...
Hi,
on System 7.1. and 7.5 I cannot choose another partition of my external drive to boot from. I can click on e.g. the 2nd partition/volume in the control panel but it does not stick. When I reopen the panel, all partitions are highlighted. When I reboot the Mac (SE/30) boots from the first...
I can't tell from the schematics. GLUE and ASC are not on the same page of the multi-page document so it is not clear where the traces run exactly.
ASC has A0 - A11, GLUE has A0, A1 and then from A13 onwards (but not all lines, e.g. A18 is missing).
Furthermore ASC's A1 and A2 seem to go...
Yes, I ran a wire from ASC pin 41 to GLUE pin 77 (the A0 address line). I'm relatively sure that the failure of this line can be attributed to the ASC's pin/pad because the trace on the board to the GLUE is short and looks very good.
A1 (pin 42 ASC to pin 74 GLUE ) was still intact. I did not...
I decided to connect UE10 and UI8 directly. It worked, the little sucker now has video and sound. Nice! Thanks for your support.
So this one will get an Ethernet card as an award later and I have another SE/30 waiting for the recap. :) And a IIci. 8-)
Do you know if UE10 (ASC) should be directly connected to UI8 (GLUE)? I can see a trace between them that looks super good but still no connection on the A0 line.
Or should I go from UE10 to UK6 (Video ROM)?
Sure I can do it the pedestrian way. I was hoping somebody has seen this combination of video and audio failure and there is a central point where it can be fixed.
I have a hard time understanding how the connections run across the 9 pages of the schematic. I cannot find any markers which allow...
I did some connection testing in the areas you mentioned. Not completely but like in thread https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/20541-se30-horizontal-sweep-linesstill/page-3 I found that A0 line between UD8 and UK6 (Video ROM) has no connection. The Oother address lines from UD8 and UE8...
Where is the ASC relative to C7 on your picture?
I thoroughly cleaned the board with isopropanol and later also water + dishwasher (and let it dry). Do you think there can still be some goo left?
Hi,
I acquired an SE/30 some time ago and it worked but started to show first symptoms of SimasiMac. Some weeks ago I gave it to a friend who has good soldering skills to do the recap. I gave him just the mainboard with everything removed.
When I got the board back and installed it, the SE/30...
