I had the same issue (repeat power cycling) with a IIcx, I recapped logic board and replaced original PSU with a 7100 PSU. Problem went away. Had another with death chimes, put in a Rominator and it worked. They are fickle beasts!

Someone showed this to me at VCF east two years ago. Very cool!

Also, I dont know what condition your case is in, but I have a couple spare IIcx's in my office doing nothing. Let me know if youre interested.

LC475 full 040 running at 41Mhz with Spicy O'Clock. Got the full 040 off ebay from that chinese rare chip seller dude bro for $50. I used thermal tape and put a 6100 heat sink on it. Need to swap out out the clock chip to get Appletalk and TCP/IP working. Otherwise solid.

I have found that the IIcx (like the SE/30) can be really picky about RAM. I would populate both banks of ram with matching working 1MB SIMMS and see if that works. If you plan to run system 7.5, you need to patch the system. Also, Rominator does not support Daystar or Turbo 040 accelerators...

I have found 9.0.4 runs best on my 7300 with 400mhz G3 card and 110(?) MB RAM. I was even thinking of downgrading my 9600 500mhz G3 256MB to 9.0.4, but I need to do some more tests first since I think some of the slow downs I am encountering might be Appletalk related.
