Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
If this gets released, it will give me more motivation for me to get my Sawtooth on the web. It will be nice to be able to use the speedy, uncluttered Mac OS 9 on a more regular basis. :beige:
Just try G3 Throttle. It works like a charm on Classic Mac OS, and should help you run Hypercard apps that are too fast for your computer at a usable speed.
I have an original Macintosh LC that refuses to start up. Nothing displays, and the only thing that happens is a clicking coming from the power supply. I do not have any devices in the SCSI port that are causing this. All I did was open it up. I tried pulling out the 68030 accelerator card, and...
Speaking of the 2010 problem, I think we should spare a thought for all those poor Zenith Supersports, which are no longer able to keep the current date and time (their clocks only go up to 2007). Maybe a BIOS hack should be arranged for them.
Man, you really need to find someone else to help develop your browser when you're occupied. You've been occupied like this for several months now. Can we still download the source code? I'm sure some people on this site would really be willing to help you with the development of your browser...
Alternatively, you could install a CPU upgrade in an early model G4 like my Sawtooth (such as the MAXPower G4/7448), and get all the compatibility of the pure classic Mac OS at much faster speeds.
Here's a link that actually works. :p
Unfortunately, Flash player 3 is next to useless for playing web based content nowadays. Maybe someone could take up porting Swfdec... :D
The guy's needed funds for the archive forever. His donation funds have been empty ever since he started the archive (at least to my knowledge), and all of the money's been coming out of his own pocket. Maybe if you have some spare cash sometime, you could consider, I don't know, hitting that...
I used to think that there was a version of Crash Bandicoot 2 for the Nintendo 64.
I didn't know very much about video games in 1997. Too little exposure at the time. :p
The sad thing about this is I kept thinking this until 2007 or 2008. :(
OS 9, for the simple fact that it ZOOMS on G3 and especially G4 Macs (I'm a proud user of Mac OS 9.2.1 on my 500 Mhz Quicksilver G4). No other version of the Mac OS I know of runs as fast as OS 9 does on any other Mac. 8-)
It seems to be the CSS and Javascript more than anything else.
Come to think of it, someone should try modifying the classic Mac OS version of Mozilla so that it can browse the modern web. Or better yet, create a new, fast web browser that can do that. Maybe throw in Gnash and the latest Java.
