Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Same here, though mostly it's wanted adverts for a range of expensive things like DVD players and laptops. The only Mac I've ever seen on my local Freecycle was a Performa 630, which I promptly liberated!
Very nice conquests btw!
Those first two pallets are particularly drool-inducing! You've got a bloody good setup there, I've never seen anywhere here that sells good old Mac gear like that on pallets.
Have a look for the CUDA switch, if it has one. Pressing it may help it to recover as occasionally G4s can exhibit this problem which is solved with a simple CUDA reset.
I'm not sure what browser it is in the photo, but I can suggest if you're trying to get a similar 68030/040 Mac online, try iCab version 2.9.9 (68K). It's pretty slick and is able to handle a fair amount of sites, even some of the more complex ones.
I'm thinking it may be something to do with the 24 bit / 32 bit addressing as it seems that the System 6 compatibility cut-off is around the time when 32 bit "clean" machines were produced.
I've got a Quicktake 150 that I got off eBay for a few quid a while ago. It's a funky piece of kit and I have taken a few gloriously low resolution pictures with it. Mine came with the original box and accessories, and it had obviously been owned by a college before as it had several pictures of...
My thoughts exactly! You could just imagine a Frankensteinien moment of the PowerBook 100 being risen from the dead by a bolt of lightening into the power connector. :D
Glad to hear it's working!
I have heard stories of contracters who will charge a company money to take away "hazardous waste" such as mercury or chemicals, then re-sell it again to someone who wants it for huge amounts of profit. The one who loses out is the original company who wanted to dispose of the thing as they have...
That's a good bit of liberation. Those pictures of the event that you provided are very good, though it seems that it was mostly dull PC stuff that was sitting around. It was obviously worth perusing though as you scored some excellent machines there!
7.1 would indeed be faster. 7.5.5 is what I have used on LCIIIs in the past and I've been fairly happy with the performance, but I guess it depends what you are doing with the machine. RAM Doubler helps somewhat and makes things a bit quicker than using the System's Virtual Memory.
The LCIII is...
Any machine that doesn't power on and is being sold as parts should always be regarded with suspicion - the seller may say that to cover the fact that it was zapped in a power surge, had an unfortunate incident with a fish tank or something similar. It's not wise to invest any great amount of...
I have heard of transparent versions of other models like Colour Classics, LCs etc but never a IIsi. It would be great if you could upload some photos of the machine.
I have fond memories of the LC form factor as the first Mac I ever used was an LC or LC II, back in the days of primary school. Hours of fun were had playing with Kidpix on that machine!
I particularly like TheNeil's website and actually use it as a first reference when I'm looking for info...
I find that a good method is to use Safari to load the page containing the video then go to the "Window" menu and select "Activity". This will display a list of all content being loaded on the web page, so find the video file in the list then double click it to download. This works for a huge...
I have actually been trying to do exactly the same thing with an AGP GeForce2 MX200 64M (TV-out), and have had the same results using the above mentioned site. The card has been sitting on my desk for months now without me getting any furthur with it. I would be very interested to hear of any...
