I think this is a known issue with the DaynaPORT installer. It needs to be mounted from the active desktop.

I tried the Applescript approach and it doesn't even work from a running system, much less during boot. I'd have to be able to script the Chooser, but it's apparently not scriptable. I pushed the Applescript record button and after Chooser starts it stops detecting input.
