Backporting HFS+ to Mac OS 8.0 and earlier

That would be helpful. Much as I'd love to have my 68k Macs work with HFS+ on System 7.x trying to follow along with this thread gives me a headache. Short of a plug and play solution, I'd really appreciate a quick recap of how to mod a 68k system.

Anyone have a copy of "AppleTalk Phase 2 Protocol Specification" (C0144LL/A)?

Wow. Just wow. I'm glad it worked out in the end - but sorry your wallet took the hit.

Good & reasonable HDMI scaler: Extron RGB-HDMI 300(A)

None of my LCD displays will sync to the 30video's 1024x768 timing. Talked to Joe and it's a known issue.

Good & reasonable HDMI scaler: Extron RGB-HDMI 300(A)

Sorry to say I never did. However, I'm currently fighting with ZigzagJoe's 30video board in 1024x768 mode. The Extron is very unhappy with the timing. This is the first such case I've seen where nothing would dial in a proper display. The next time I have a Plus or 512 on the bench I will...

Romin-ator II woes in a Macintosh IIfx

I'll second the suggestion for the ROMSHIMMs. Fixed a bunch of annoying problems on one of my SE/30's. Not shipping to the USA at the moment because we're too busy winning.

    Macintosh 128k~Plus PRAM Battery in 2020: EN133A/523

Why not do it this way? The LR501 battery has more capacity and three of them fit without an adapter. The Excel battery is simply (3) LR501 with spot-welded strips between them.

    Glad you have it cooperating!

    Schrockwell's S3/30 Reloaded build

Those logic devices are fused PAL's. I think the logic has been reverse engineered. Apple typically blew the security links, but it may be worth a shot at reading them out on a suitable programmer.

    Problem with ZuluSCSI Daynaport emulation

That was one of my first theories, but a programmer's button reboot behaves the same way.

What is the technical reason why DDP AppleTalk doesn't work with WiFi?

I'll give that a try. It's been a long time since I've used Wireshark, but hopefully I can fight my way through! My bet is on the RPi Pico network stack being the culprit. If that turns out to be the case I doubt there's any remedy possible.

What happens when you connect a drive to the rear panel DB-25 connector?

What is the technical reason why DDP AppleTalk doesn't work with WiFi?

I've been struggling with Appletalk under System 7.x when using the emulated Dayna SCSI/Link device in ZuluSCSI (problem might exist in BlueSCSI as well, but I do not own one). A real SCSI/Link hardware interface (connected to my ethernet network) shows Appletalk Zones in the bottom left of the...

    Quadra 605 build log

That little fan has a noticeable whir to it, but it's better than an overheated CPU. At 40 MHz. it was getting uncomfortably hot when run without forced air flow. It probably has a lot to do with the die-stepping of the CPU. Some of the later 68040 shrinks were better able to deal with higher...

Hahaha... Your photo is inverted! Had me scratching my head for a bit trying to make sense of the layout. Then I read the markings on one of the large chips :)

How to use your ZuluSCSI RP2040 as a USB-attached SCSI controller

From my experience, drive issues pall in comparison to degradation / failure of the tape cartridge itself. The internal tension belt on most tapes will have already failed or will do so destructively the first time you try to read it. Even tapes from the 90s that are factory sealed are likely...

    Problem with ZuluSCSI Daynaport emulation

I'm not running with that option. When running over localtalk or via the actual Daynaport SCSI hardware it reconnects every time on a restart. The problem only occurs when networking over the ZuluSCSI Dyna API emulation. I'm thinking that the emulation is missing a subtlety somewhere.

    Problem with ZuluSCSI Daynaport emulation

Since day one I've been able to get the ZuluSCSI Daynaport SCSI emulation working for a booted system by using Chooser to select and log to my netatalk server. However, it's never been willing to automatically reconnect to the server after reboot. I have to manually set it up every time, which...
