Congratulations!!! Really cool story!
Could you make a picture of the three screws? I’m not sure which ones you mean. I have a widget with a little bit the same problems….
Looks like my “banging head” widget drive. Difficult. Hope for the best.
I had some succes with NeoWidEx.
In NeoWidEx you can give some commands to the disk where it can come back to live.
I made a small movie about it. https://www.youtube.com/user/tjabring
I also had some succes by...
23. Use a macip.net solution, like a MacIPRPi, to connect your old Macintosh to the internet, even over LocalTalk. Do file sharing with any device such as iPhone, windows computer, modern MacBook to your old Macintosh.
Many tools for power users on board.
Have a look at www.macip.net
I would definitely like a replica widget. Not just a SD /compact flash replacement, but the “real thing”. But the market is off course very small for a device like that. On the other hand most parts of the Lisa cards are also made new.
About the paralel card.
You could try to buy a Profile hard disk. This is what I did. I now have a working widget and two working Profile disk. The Profile disk is also a very nice attribute with a Lisa. The way it starts up… realy nice!
Yes. That is what I used.
You first install LOS 3.x and choose the option to share the disk. After the install of LOS 3.x on your harddrive you reboot and test if the LOS 3.x is OK. Then reboot with the MacWorks floppy and a system disk. You will boot off the system floppy disk, but will see...
Yes. I have some kind setup on a XProfile disk.
If you boot “normal” you will boot into LISA OS. If you insert the MacWorks floppy it will boot “MacOS”… whatever system you have on the hard disk.
But long ago. I have to check how I did this…
Thanks for the update.
I choose a Rpi because I use it as a small NAS for backup. Handy devices.
I’m looking for the details what to do. I have the hardware in place. Sending data to ttyUSB0 will give output on my Macintosh XL MacTerminal session.
Minicom I’m familiar with, only never used...
I’m with you with the BLU utility!
I would also like to backup my drives. What I’m missing is instructions how to do this with a Raspberry Pi to backup to.
If somebody knows this please let me know.
I think it is wise to follow stepleton's advice. He is one of the experts when it comes to widget drives.
I also had a stuck drive and got is spinning by powering up and rotating by hand. I managed to revive it. But a few years later it failed. But is it is stuck to much you could burn the...
You’ve got the widget running. Unbelievable! You are very lucky. Congratulations. You can run both Lisa OS and Macintosh OS on it, although I would be reluctant to to any formatting and installing tasks on the disk… you never know if these old disks can handle this….
This is my setup. A AV2HDMI Up scaler 1080p. Few euros/dollars AliExpress. Composite in. HDMI out. Only yellow cable is used. Red and white are not used, but this is the only cable I have.
I checked the cable you bought. I don’t think that it is the correct one. I think you use a normal one and the Profile one is missing a pin… so that could be a problem. Do you need a picture how it should look?
