While testing Zane's 8MB ROM, as I reported to him via PM, my MacCon Ethernet PDS card works just fine with his ROM, even when my MacCon is stacked atop my DiiMO PDS accelerator card.
I am able to boot just fine with my 50MHz DiiMO PDS accelerator card (68030) installed, either from a SCSI...
@ZaneKaminski, I sent you some PM's a week ago, giving you a detailed compatibility report regarding the 8MB ROM you kindly shipped to me for testing. I haven't yet received a reply back from you so I thought I'd flag you about my PM's here. Not sure if you are busy or if this forum's email...
EM-30L is hard to find though. It's no where to be found in Japan, and the only seller on Amazon is out of stock. That's why I put an EBAY link to it in the text description under my video on YouTube. SuperLube is much more readily available, and I cover that in my 800K drive video.
I was going to post the video below yesterday, but this forum was down. The topic really doesn't fit perfectly into "Peripherals" because every old Mac has a floppy drive, but I just decided to put it here in hopes this category is the closest fit. Those of you on FaceBook or who are already...
Thank you for the kind words, Eric. Getting the SCSI ID selector to work on my HD20SC has been very useful, so I know you will benefit from the effort required to make it happen on your CD drive.
Since Zane is not replying, I will ask you folks. I have a ROM sealed inside its anti-static bag. I get only vertical lines on cold boot when used in my fully recapped SE/30 (no PDS card or accelerators attached), even after 3 minutes of waiting. I reseated the ROM, and I even used the metal...
@ZaneKaminski
I've sent you two PMs about your ROM over the past few days but haven't heard back from you. Not sure if the forum notifications are down again, but neither of the YouTube videos I made for you have any views other than my own, which indicates you did not receive my PMs. I don't...
What I've found is that if I initialize any DSK image in Mini vMac, even 400K or 800K DSK images, when I try to use them on an SE/30, I get the initialize box. But if I expand the SIT archive containing the 400K or 800K blank DSK images, then write data to them in Mini vMac, and then move that...
Until now, I've been using 400K, 800K and HD20 Mode dsk images with my FloppyEMU without problem. Today, I tried to use a 1440K image without success. I extracted it from the Blanks here. When I boot off my SCSI HDD into System 7.1 on my SE/30, it can't read the 1440K disk and asks me to...
In the rare few times I've hot-swapped ADB devices by accident, my SE/30 froze. Not sure if that happens on other ADB Macs, but the freezes certainly keep hot swapping from becoming a habit on the SE/30! I also had an Apple IIgs keyboard attached to my SE/30 that once had bad caps. It was...
@gpbonneau Merci d'avoir testé dans Speedometer. J'apprécie vraiment cela!
Could you please tell details about the Mac you used? For example...
Mac Model (SE, SE/30, etc.)
RAM
CPU (accelerator installed or stock condition)
System Version (e.g., System 7.1, 7.5.5, etc.)
“ADB Reset” seems to be ADB Renewer.
I read the description of what it does, but I’ve actually never used it before. What is an example situation that crops up where this software solves the problem?
The only time I had problems with ADB was in the distance past when I accidentally plugged...
You have been searching for information on either a 20MB Seagate or 20MB Miniscribe drive used inside an Apple Hard Disk 20SC enclosure? Data Recovery services work, but they are just too expensive. If the drive still spins and if the heads are working, it could just be a bad block. Visit...
I don't have an Apple CD-ROM to test and confirm if the extension would not only load under 7.1 but also control the drive too. Perhaps someone else can do that though.
I made errors on my copper thickness numbers yesterday. Since we cannot correct posts in this forum, I will just need to...
@gpbonneau
Did you ever run benchmarks on your 8425SA drive? For example, Norton Utilities System Info or Speedometer 3.x?
I am going to show some benchmarks of my IBM DGHS SCSI drive in my video, and I was just curious how it compares with the stock Seagate and Miniscribe drives. I'm pretty...
Wow. Thank you for the numerous photos and for the MP3. I also appreciate the photo that shows where that 6-pin BLUE connector attaches. It’s interesting it connects to the bottom of the drive. That ribbon cable leads to the SCSI ID selector switch on the enclosure.
Thanks!
