    SE/30 w/Signatures (a request)

My old SE had them. IIRC it was built in 88.

Ohh, I'm bad. Core2Duo color classic.

I'm too tired to look it up. The signal pins are exposed through the motherboard connector, which will accept a VGA signal once the high-res mod is done. The pin out of the connector is available through one of the apple tech docs.

    Tribute to Steve Jobs

If you've never read through the stories overs at Folklore.org I highly recommend it. I've read them a couple of times over the years. I even have a copy of the book Revolution In The Valley. The stories are highly enjoyable and even though it sounded stressful at times, it sounded liked a...

    400K Mac floppy drives

Humm... sounds like it might be worth a trip down to the Computer Works tomorrow. I've been wanting to pick up a turntable so I can see what the regular goodwill has.

design ideas for a SD-card floppy emulator

I starting looking at this a couple of years ago. I posted about what I found here. viewtopic.php?t=12002 I never had time to continue perusing it. Hopefully there is some helpful information there.

    IBM Cherry clicky clacky

Most of the mag strip readers I have seen just sit inline with the keyboard. The data is passed through as a normal key press, so no drivers are required.

Wow cool. I use zterm from time to time. I like it and found it works well.

    POWER6 p520

Did you get a PowerVM license with it? The micro-partitioning is a pretty cool feature. You can setup IVM in VIOS and get almost all of the features of the HMC. I have thought about leasing a POWER box. Maybe once I get my consulting stuff setup I will. Would be nice to have some business...

What to do with an M0100

This is one the best Classic Mac retrofits I have seen. http://dclausen.net/projects/tfam/ He covers how to use the original mouse via USB.

Retr0Bright: How do I know if my UV bulb is working?

Also you could turn the lights out and stick a sock under the lamp. The phosphorus left behind from the detergent fluoresces in the presence of UV light.

    Motorola 68060 upgrade

Now you are onto something with the Transmeta CPUs. Back in college I had a professor that updated the microcode on a Pentium III as part of his research. It has been about 10 years, but IIRC he change the processor mode that an instruction was available in. As you said it is a non-trivial...

Can have the quote button back?

Would it be possible to get the quote button back? I know we can enter them manually, but why should I do something a computer can do for me.

    Motorola 68060 upgrade

Is it a personal machine or a work machine? I would like to get one for use at home, but they are too rich for my tastes. I have a POWER 7 machine at work. Holy Crap it is fast. Back to the topic. Is the 68060 microcoded? If it is you could reprogram the microcode to work around the problem...

    Mini-ITX board project ideas?

Yes I know this is bump, but the topic was still on the first page of the section. I've got the same issue. I have one of the Intel Atom Mini-ITX boards. I built an HTPC out of it, but in the long run it just did not have the power to do HD video. I ended up replacing it with a dual core...

Wow $25k. While a neat system, I could buy a really nice car for that.

    Appleline and Apple Cluster Controller

Interesting. Anyone here going to spring for it? This would go well in my old manual collection, but I don't want to step on anyone here.

New monitor at work has Composite vid-in.

My 24" Dell LCD a has composite input. I have connected my Apple IIe to it. It was kind of neat. I've also connected my Mac IIsi to my 50" DLP TV. That was neat also. The icons were like an inch tall.

    Rack gear

Nice. I have a 2611XM. It is a good router. I use it as my main router. I picked up a crypto card and I set up a IPsec VPN. The nice part is that they are old enough that you can pick the upgrades up for a song. I think I paid about $15 for the crypto card. If you have the right firmware I...
