The pinout of these cables needs to be on the web like archive.org.
Does this exist already? If not I'll pin map it.
I did one for AtariST external drives which didn't exist: https://archive.org/details/atari-st-external-cable
Ya I figured out it was the battery causing the issue. Also recapped computer and installed OS 7.6.1 from a MacSD.
Also upgraded ram I had around so its now maxed out at over 130mb
Works perfect.
Now I really want to get a L2 cache card but can't find any.
I got one of the converters from Walmart overpriced but it works. However computer doesn't fully startup until I hit reset button, then power cycle once. Its a Performa 6115CD.
So looking again, there was one on Ebay for 30$ I just ordered today. So now I can confirm if the 3rd party converter...
Yes the same ram was used between both boards. It must be something with the board itself.
The fact that the bad board functions but just the scan lines are jumbled makes me think its some IC chip (maybe a bad cap causing it?) that could be effecting vertical sync line timings.
So I was given this Mac Plus that came with two motherboards. One fully working and the other boots and works but the image on the screen is waky.
As you can see in the image, I get a flashing disk that blinks with a cursor etc. I know this isn't a screen issue as I can test it with the working...
Ya I'm thinking of testing some FTP stuff after I get my MacSD (which will let me transfer initial 68k FTP software over SCISI to the mac without having to take it apart again).
Awesome! Why o why doesn't Ebay show this when I search for it.
I now have two computers that have this port.
Thanks, this price is totally reasonable.
I have a "Macintosh Performa 6115CD" and need to get a video cable for it that converts HDI45 to a VGA or DB15.
But man the original ones are crazy spendy. I found this oddly on Walmart online store...
Ok interesting.
I also wonder if a SheepShaver emulator couldn't be used to connect?
Then it would be easy to transfer between Windows to the emulator, then to the Color Classic from OS9 or OS7.
Hey I just fixed a Color Classic.
However like LC computers these don't have external floppy ports.
Whats the best way to transfer files between modern macOS, Windows or Linux to a 68k mac over Ethernet?
Is there any software that can simulate AppleTalk over ethernet on Win/Mac/Lin? Or any FTP...
Looking it up, the only thing LC III+ doesn't support is some L2 cache card maybe (that LC III does). And the mod effects this the same way.
So unless you use that card doesn't sound like their is any issue. (I'm still considering if I want to do the mod or not)
But the LC 475 / Performa 475 don't have a integrated FPU right? (as you can't add one).
Also why did Apple limit the clock to 25mhz when it ran fine at 33mhz?
I'll have to consider if I want to do this or not. Looks like an easy change but sometimes I prefer devices more true to their original...
Its faster than I expected. Only ever used an LC & LC II in the past for these.
Do you know if the FPU helps in games in general that use "floats"? Or does a game need to be compile specifically to use it?
What game did you use that required it btw?
Well it turns out the HD was going bad and its head getting stuck. Trying to take it apart to adjust it, I bent a head (its toast).
So put in a SCSI2SD and just put on OS 7.5.5 directly and everything works!
* Computer re-capped
* Added heatsinks on hot chips
* Add FPU !!
* SCSI2SD drive (still...
7.5.3 CD version could fit within a 35mb drive image FloppyEmu could emulate.
Maybe if I just copy all the CD files to a drive image, I could install from that.
That requires a CD. LC III needs disks.
I need an approach that doesn't require a working CD drive.
For one there is no way to emulate a CD drive in the future if they went bad (or does someone make a ODE for Mac?).
I have an LC III that I cannot get to install a OS. Using a up to date FloppyEmu.
Tried multiple copies of 7.1, 7.1.1, 7.1.2 & 7.5.3 (that were in .dsk or .img format). The installers just keep erroring out. Different versions will error out on different disks.
Can someone share a working copy...
