Macintosh SE/30 logicboard recreation (thread revival)

Has anyone been able to use the PLCC for the rom instead of the SIMM? No matter what we do, we can’t get it to boot. With a simm in place it boots right away. If anyone has had success with these, I’d be very grateful for some rom files so I can compare. Byte swap has been done as per instructions.

IIci etc. ATX to 10pin Adapter

@mrw For mine, beware that the passive are 0603, even smaller than 0805 (the LED is 0805), it's designed to be soldered by JLCPCB rather than me :) The Kicad project is there in GitHub as well, so you could replace the passive by larger version if you wanted to. I'm also using weaker (higher...

Does the signal change of you push the reset button (or bridge it)? Maybe there is a bridge somewhere in that circuit

I assume you have tested with a ROM? Since on your card there are actually no roms :)

    68040 and FPU mania

Very interesting! Thanks for the information! Question, would the classic II really benefit from running the fpu at 40Mhz given that the bus is only 16bits wide? The card also looks very cloneable :). Might be a project for later 😅

ZuluSCSI won't boot with Macintosh Plus

You need special settings for the plus, the scsi implementation is very quirky, mine struggled as well, but @rabitholecomputing helped me out. If it’s already not solved, I can share you my settings when I’m home tomorrow.

P PE connectors seems to have: https://www.peconnectors.com/sockets-pga-cpu-and-memory/hws5040/ I have not bought from them myself yet though, I tried to order, but they only do US shipping and seems to only accept US credit cards (mine bounced).

Yeah, sorry about that, its a typo :). I will blame the jetlag (currently in china).

An Apple retailer here in Sweden (he has sold Apple since the 1990s), listed some "new old stock", so I took a plunge and bought it all :) In the end I got: 10 XC68040RC33 3 FPU for LC/LC2 3 FPU for Color Classic 3 FPU for Classic 2 FPU for Classic 2 2 Loose 68882 FPU 1 PowerPC CPU-card I'm...

Power Mac 7100 PPC 601 CPU package damaged

Yes, without hot air it's not possible, however it is still a QFP-package and not BGA :D. So, with a hot air station it's definitely doable.

Power Mac 7100 PPC 601 CPU package damaged

Board is not toast, but the CPU likely is. You can get a new CPU HERE. It's of course not super easy to change it, but i'm pretty sure your recap friend should be able to do it. Those CPU:s are in general very fragile.

Reverse Engineering the Macintosh Plus PCB

Fantastic work @max1zzz !! I recently started the task for making a new analogue board for the Plus, so first step was to remove all components and get a good scan. So here you go if anyone else wants to try it before I finish. I've also scanned the plastic cover. I also noticed the the scanner...

    VideoStreamer Data Save Interface

Interesting! Do you have any link to those german forums :)? Would be nice to learn how it works. The whole thing does look very german :D. You didn't find any reference to which software is necessary for it?

    VideoStreamer Data Save Interface

Ah, that’s actually a good theory! By closer inspection, I think the vga connector is added later, the soldering look non original, it’s mounted slightly skew and there seems to be an extra cut out in the case.
