Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
So I tested the software on my 475 (yeah, it has garbled graphic, but it's just a benchtester anyway), and it runs. I was able to read out the hacked ROM from my own ROM simm (also running the software of the ROM) and save it to disk. I have checksum test deactivated so first it said "bad...
Amazing work @dougg3 !!
What do think will be easiest, writing a new software that works similar to the linked one, but with support for modern chips, or trying to adapt this one?
The Quadra ROMs are close to being ready for first testing :). Early hacked, patched and tweak prototypes are running since this summer.
I have custom ROM (with ROM disk) now working well in:
Q700/900/950 (same ROM)
Iivx/vi/pf600
Lc475
Most likely also working is:
Q650/610/800, but have not...
JDW has released a new video about ROM programmers and ROM programming in general, well worth watching, that includes a brief history as well:
JDW’s video is also includes a few seconds on the latest CayMac vintage programmer that has been codeveloped by myself, @dougg3, @WillJac and...
Was this ROM ever dumped? Otherwise both me and @WillJac are building ROM programmers and have sold a few already in UK. I'm based in Sweden and happy to help out if I can borrow that ROM.
I have used Multi Circuit PCB in the past:

German based and fair prices, but of course cannot compete with JLCPCB.
I’ve built several of @Melkhior adapters, they are actually made to that the SMD stuff should be soldered by JLC, there is even a BOM with the files. Then you just have to mount the connectors and switch.
Yes, from eBay :). @jajan547 bought it, but since it was in Sweden (and I live here), it did a transit over my shop :).
I haven't disassembled the ROM yet (got the machine on Monday and on a business trip now), but I have some experience of hacking other Mac ROMs, so there are some...
So, I got one of these in my hands. It was bought here locally, but belongs to @jajan547 who has kindly let me play with it for a while before shipping to him :).
This one actually boots (no picture of that yet here, but will show later) and asks for a pin code. I have dumped the ROM (also...
Being one of the three in the "outside world" :), I can add some comments to your questions and some experience of my own:
@Melkhior kindly provided me with a reference bitstream so we could test everything. Now the first thing is of course to get that bitstream to the card and to do this you...
I think we would be better off doing an FPGA softcore with something like this:
https://github.com/AmicableComputers/wf68k30L
I know that @Melkhior has invested a lot of time in the FPGA rabbit hole, and has also investigated the soft core option, but there are many issues before something...
TLDR:
There is a new more compact case.
The longer story:
When trying to connect the TashTwenty to one of our other Macintosh Plus (an upgraded 128k) I realized that it would collide with the mouse connector for this early generation mouse.
So why was the case so wide? Well, I wanted to be...
Actually they are just for through screws so you can fix it to the plus, i stole those screws of a DB9 I had in the shop. But, yeah, can add a hole for activity also :).
Yeah, I could have been a bit clearer :). There are actually two versions of the case, one with holes and one without. Each case consists of two parts, a top and a bottom, they are screwed together with countersink 2.5mm 12mm long wood screw.
I have actually modelled the DB19-connector also...
