    iifx too far gone

THANK YOU! This was the clearest explanation so far! Yes, I also believe it's a broken trace. It did work, but then went to work sometimes to now, not shut down at all. I tried to follow the lines, but got, in my opionion, funny readings, so I gave up and put it at the back burner.

    iifx too far gone

OHHH! This is nice!!! Fingers crossed you get it all right :). I have a sort of working IIfx, it starts and runs fine, but won't shut down. So I'd definetely be interested doing a transfer to a new board at some point :).

Seeking beta testers for Mac Sync-inator VGA sync converter

I'd be happy to test one, have like 8-10 Nubus graphic cards and a lot of machines including SE with external graphic, SE/30 with same etc. I do live in Sweden though... :)

    ROM Socket question

@jajan547 directed me to a taiwanese site : https://www.anytronic.com.tw/products/connector/01-simm-socket/ Which has a lot interesting, but everything is "request quote", so I assume there is a high MOQ...

    ROM Socket question

Thanks both @dougg3 and @mari3311 ! Brilliant suggestions! I have been able to find all suggested part numbes at connector people, unfortunately they are no longer in stock :(. I had a second look today, and since the pins are quite long and thin on my straight connectors, I should be able to...

    ROM Socket question

HI! Does anyone know if the 64pin socket ever existed in a 45degree version? I've tried to browse Connector People page, but it's a bit difficult. So far I've only found straight ones: Single: https://www.connectorpeople.com/Connector/TYCO-AMP-TE_CONNECTIVITY/8/822019-2 Single with center post...

    Apple prototype ROM flasher utility

4Mbit chips, so a 32Mbit flashable ROM (4MB), would make a lot of sense for the PPCs since all these ROMs are 4MB ;). I'm pretty sure the flasher tool can reprogram also this card with an appropriate adapter.

    Apple prototype ROM flasher utility

Nice work @dougg3!! Super cool to see this! I'd love to see that PDS card Apple Dev used back in the days :). Might all have been scrapped, but you never know.

QuadraFPGA: HDMI for the 68040 PDS slot

qHD would be nice! That in combination with window boxed 640x480 would be extremely useful for playing old adventure games :) And I would 100% agree with your argumentation! :D :D

QuadraFPGA: HDMI for the 68040 PDS slot

TLDR: Difficult, expensive and with some major caveats! The longer story: The carrier card itself, is very straightforward, solder on headers, solder on 040 connector, install FPGA-card, done. BUT, and a big such, programming the FPGA is a little bit difficult (you need to use either an Intel...

QuadraFPGA: HDMI for the 68040 PDS slot

We all love success stories right ;)? Well, here is my QuadraFPGA running in my Q650 :D. I cannot take much credit other than soldering the through mounted stuff, replacing a SMD-resistor and flashing the thing :). The rest is pure French magic from the wizard @Melkhior ! Incredible happy for...

ROM hacking in the 68040 Macs

    Some details as promised: First thing you want to remove is the checksum test: This sits at 46E30: Checksum test at 46E30: Original: 3E 3C 00 01 4D FA 00 06 4E FA 06 C6 4A 86 66 00 2C BA 42 47 74 mod: 3E 3C 00 01 4D FA 00 06 4E 71 4E 71 4E 71 4E 71 4E 71 42 47 74 We replace the test...

ROM hacking in the 68040 Macs

For the newer Macs that has simm sockets with metal tabs, I've honestly never had any issues with the 1.2mm standard boards. If you would have issues, you can use the excellent ROM clips created by @PotatoFi and/or if you buy leaded boards, it's easy enough to add a little extra tin to the pads...

ROM hacking in the 68040 Macs

As some people here already know, I have spent the last couple of months getting to know the Quadra (1MB) ROMs better and get a ROM disk working for it. The basic idea was simply "if we can have a ROM disk for the SE/30, why not for my Q900?". I started by reading up on Rob Braun's excellent...
