Hey!  I just got a performa 6116cd working with a monitor keyboard etc. It only has System  7.5.1 but it runs great but what can i do with it? Its really boring so far and i dont know if i can upgrade it or something. Anyone know anything about this machine?Thanks 

Did you remove the ram and check the gray cable that connects the screen to the bottom board?

Thats good but i use mine with a pb g3-1400cs adapter it works on all those

Noo idea thats why i gave up and sold the parts for it. The board has capacitors also that mabie should be replaced?

I had the same problem with 3400c did you take out the pram battery? They can leak

Its the power supply we had a power macintosh in 2010 that we had to throw out cuz the power supply was dead. Needs recapping 

Thanks for the replies. I just got a new 2300c board installed in it and it works great. So its a 280c with 2300c board. Now i just need a working hard drive for it with software on it 

I have  no idea how my 210 has no issue with caps but the other one does. Its older! 

I dont think the screen did but i have no idea if thats any good. Im trying find a new logic board for it like a 270c , 2300c or 280c. Something was burning when i plugged it in i dont know how that happened!

Have you tried putting tape at end of the little rubber thing in the hard drive? And why are some hard drives so hard to open?

Powerbook duo 280c. I think the small black chip where U24 is was shorted or something when i plugged it in. I have no idea if i should recap it if its bad. Theres a fish smell when i turned it on 

So i had leaking capacitors on top of this board and just found this chip like this, no other damage is it worth recapping the board or is the chip a hazard at this point? Thanks 

Hello just got a duo 280c and i plugged it in . Didnt start and had a horrible fish odor. I opened it up and the capacitors leaked. I cleaned with soap and water. Is the board ruined? No battery acid or anything. Thanks 

I ended up swapping the logic board for new one and it works great now. Theres yellow ram chips or something on the old board does that mean it was upgraded? 

I just cleaned the boards and no more screen flashing but i keep getting the sad mac chime with the checkerboard screen. Why is it doing this even with the ram removed?

I got a powerbook 170. The battery was so bad i had to open the computer to remove. The computer booted with sad mac chimes. I removed the ram card but had the same result. After 5 seconds the screen will flash like its trying to reset or something. What's wrong? No corrosion on the boards i...

I just tried hooking to external monitor and disk mode nothing. It just starts up and the hd spins with nothing else. I know its not booting becuase no sound coming except boot sound.  If i put the mac os 9.0 hard drive in another model what would you recomend? 1400, 5300, or g3 ? Thanks
