Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Slightly off topic, but would there be any way to get the PowerKey to work with the IIgs? Does anyone know what the control panel does besides get rid of the "It's now safe to shutdown your Mac" window?
Sorry I'm late to this thread. I'm a little biased, but Captain's Quarters II BBS has some good stuff for your networked SE/30 - browse the forums, play over 300 door games, download software from the 10,000+ file collection, read Mac-based text files, get the latest news/sports headlines...
Thanks for sharing all the tips! This is tempting to do, but my MDD runs at 1.25 MHz and has SCSI, USB, and serial connections so there's not much reason for me to switch OS9 machines. But if someone wanted to run a Hermes II or Subtext BBS 24/7 via telnet this would probably be the way to go!
Nice work - very polished! I played it in SheepShaver and got around 30 FPS. Will fire it up on my MDD next.
My only suggestion would be to add the ability to customize the keys.
Did you ever end up taking this apart? If so, is there a way to do it without breaking it? I recently picked one up from ePay and all seemed to be going well until it started powering the computer on all by itself. I'm guessing it's got some caps that need to be replaced but there doesn't...
I just ran v3.1.1 on my Iici with System 7.5.5 for the month of March without any crashes or freeze-ups whatsoever. I was pleasantly surprised with how stable it was!
Great news - we have a working serial number for Hermes II v3.1.1! We got the master Mac cracker, Sidd Hartha, together with the original programmer of Hermes and master or encryption, Will Price. With the blessing of the current owner of Hermes II, the original source code was provided to...
Don't feel bad - he ghosted me about a year ago, probably because I was asking too many questions. However, I've been in contact with the original creator of Hermes, Will Price, and he seems interested in getting back into the swing of things - stay tuned...
That's fantastic that...
Whoops - sorry I missed the part where you already contacted him. And one of those attempts this AM was me accidentally typing in #1 by force of habit!
I've played around with Public Address a little bit, but didn't find very many door games for it. I've got v0.9.10.5 of it in the...
Yeah, unless it's one of us, nobody is gonna do it. There's even less interest in Hermes II now than there was when you were still running your old BBS. And even if someone did come up with some new Python externals, then the existing non-Python doors would probably stop working...
I'd contact the guy who runs ftelnet, Rick Parrish, via the contact tab at the top of the ftelnet home page. I think I had to do the same thing since I run a nonstandard telnet port. You should also register your BBS on the Telnet BBS Guide as they'll provide a direct telnet link to your BBS...
I tried it on both the 13" display and VGA monitor with adapter without any luck. I tried reseating the IC's without any change. Nubus pin connectors look good, and no obvious damage to the traces but there is a fair amount of cap leakage where you had it too, so I'll replace those and see...
Another option to get more door games for the latest version of Hermes II would be for someone to add the ability to use outbound RLOGIN connections from Hermes II. There are a bunch of door game servers out there, like Gold Mine, in which you connect from the BBS to the game server. You can...
