Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Very cool - will test out on my MDD Mac! The ultimate setup would be to package this with a bunch of games like Total Replay for the Apple II. I imagine that HD image would be pretty large though, so maybe one could just do the classics.
My thoughts exactly! :)
Thanks for the plug, but just to clarify - CQ II runs Mystic software on an old Mac Mini. My yearly #MARCHintosh project, The Crow's Nest BBS, runs Hermes software on my IIci for the month of March.
Agreed.
You can already do almost all of those things on Captain's Quarters II BBS - local / global chats, email, forums, national news headlines, sports headlines, local weather forecast, and multi-player door games. Not to mention tons of vintage Mac downloads and Mac-related g-files!
I'm the only...
Some more good Hermes stuff (thanks to @joevt for unstuffing!) from AMUG BBS in a Box vol 22. These are two issues of Hermes External Newsletter which contain instructions on how to create doors for Hermes among other things. I wonder if there were more than two issues? There's nothing Hermes...
Sweet - thank you!! Never even heard of Stuffit Destinations. I just downloaded Stuffit Expander 16 (Stuffit Destinations is not available in the App Store) for my MBP running Ventura but it couldn't unstuff it either...
Wanna give this one a try too? :)
It's a file from BBS in a Box volume 22 with the description "August issue of Hermes Externals Newsletter." I would love to be able to read this! I get a disk-related error when trying to expand with Unstuffit v5.5 and v3.51, and I can't get v1.6b1 to read it.
Thanks in advance!
So Will Price sent me a cracked version of Hermes v2.2 to play around with. The story behind the cracked version that Will sent me is interesting in itself:
The Readme file that accompanies v2.2 is hilarious. From the dude who cracked it:
Anyway, I was able to get about 60 of the Externals...
Amazing work!! I'm beginning to see why they threw this card in for free when I bought the working 400 MHz card. :cautious: Agreed this was a great save by you - I was just about to toss this thing before I came across your restored video cards thread...
BTW, this will complete my ultimate...
Got together with a couple of my old pals last night and we played some old-school Marathon via LAN like BITD. Well, not quite as we all played it BITD - we played via Aleph One on our MacBook Pro's (although I did use an Apple Pro Keyboard for controls!). Had an absolute blast and we ended up...
If you've got a wifi modem, you can use the terminal command "atdt cqbbs.ddns.net:6800" to connect. If you've got an old-school dial-up modem, you can connect via 2600.network with username / password captainsquartersii.
Hey Will - great to see you on here! And great to see Hermes moving forward again.
I'd be in favor of you doing this, since being able to have TCP/IP connections along with having the most compatible door games would make for the ultimate BBS. Also, I'm planning on setting up Hermes with...
