setting up a G4 Tower Quicksilver 933 MHz

The drives will "autodetect" if set to cable select, but that depends on the cable supporting CS. It's safest to set master/slave with the jumpers on each drive (including the optical, if really are installing a third drive)

alternatives for WPA2 networking under OS9

What I did was set up an AP with a bridge on one of the raspberry pis. Then I can use an ssh shortcut on my phone to turn on the retro WiFi when I am using a clamshell or tibook; and another to turn it back off when I am done. I should really write up a guide on how I set it up. They can even...

The Confusing World of ATI Radeons

It does and used to work in Linux with soft modded drivers there. I was just not aware of any Mac OS X softmod.

The Confusing World of ATI Radeons

Is there a soft mod for Mac OS X? I have a 9800 SE here that I recall worked when soft modded in Windows. Could put that in my G5 for no good reason :)

iBook G3 HD Dilemma, what's the cheapest solution?

My clamshells have msata to ide adapters. You can find used msata drives for cheap and the clamshells have new enough IDE controllers that they work fine.

Porting LinuxDoom to System 7 (or trying to) - progress and questions

I’m talking about render complexity in the original levels. Marathon has to do more work, so properly optimized it will slot in your list a bit slower than Doom should.

MacTwister: a MacCon/Etherport/Dayna Twisted Pair breakout board

Very nice. One thing I love about this is the RJ45 sticks out level with the slot so that the cable is not IMPOSSIBLE to push the tab on and remove, unlike my RJ45 MacCon :)

Trying to get just a little more power out of my Mystic Color Classic for Leisure Suit Larry 7

I don't think an FPU will help with that game, unfortunately.

My Performa 400 (LCII) just died :-( !

You should replace the caps, no question, but also: check continuity across the power switch. Those fail in LC II PSUs. I was able to get mine to power on (after re-capping) by bypassing the switch!

Unknown Expansion Card for LC III mac (with images!!)

That's an ethernet card, with a socket for a FPU. The 10baseT is nice because it will plug into a semi-modern HUB. Drivers are here: https://vintageapple.org/macdrivers/network.shtml $90 is pretty high, especially if you can't test it. You can still get new old stock ones made by other...
