I actually don't notice the issue in Doom. The boot splash screen shows dots down the screen. Actually I don't think it's BeOS fault, because on the Mac, I see a grid of dots. I either didn't insert the card correctly when replacing the cpu, or the cpu changed something.
Hi. If anyone here has experimented with video cards that work both in MacOS and BeOS, can you share which card and how well it worked in BeOS.
- does it break any applications?
- Can you adjust resolutions and refresh rates in the Screen setting?
- Boot Screen?
- Any other weird graphical...
Maybe try a different CPU if you have or can get one. In my testing, the only time I haven't gotten a chime is with a non-working video card or daughtercard.
Actually, I think I've had no chime when trying different memory, but when I hit the reset button, it would chime and you'd hear broken...
Hi. I have a PowerCenter Pro 210.(PowerMacintosh 7200)
It has the Catalyst motherboard, and supposedly goes up to a 60MHz bus officially according to my research.
I installed a Sonnet G3 450/1M. It all seems to work fine, but the bus runs at 45. (Makes sense 45 x 10). I was wondering if...
Well if this card ends up working, you should try BeOS. And let us know if it works. Their webpage only stated NewerTech and Railgun cards being compatible but who knows.
Also it would be good to know if your ATI card works with BeOS.
What model upgrade card did you try?
I would clean contacts with isopropyl alcohol. I see you already got it working though. I noticed with mine that they all chime even with no PRAM.
Yours is just the regular PowerCenter? Yours might even work with G4. I have a newertech 400Mhz G4, but...
I haven't gotten around to installing BeOS to test, but I have a PowerCenter Pro 210 with I believe an Adaptec 2940UW SCSI card. I have seen documents saying only the built in SCSI works on this particular model of PowerComputing clone, and some documents that didn't have any special notes...
I finally got a couple working so far. The PRAM battery I was using was seemingly no good. I happened to see some reviews stating the EBL batteries had the correct voltage, but dropped to 0v when under load. Using a Saft battery I was able to get it to boot.
I tried that. One thing I will try now is a different brand of battery. I saw a lot of reviews about the EBL ones having the right voltage, but not when under load.
I will check the VRAM. The PowerTower has the twin turbo, and I have a few other models. None of them work, which is strange to me. I will check the battery too, and see if I got DOA ones.
I also have a very clean riser card that the guy I picked these up from with graphics built in. I will...
I'm having the same problem. I've tried a power computing monitor, and older dell LCD.
I've tried:
VGA/DB15->VGA
New PRAM battery.
Re-seating/cleaning contacts of cards, cpu, memory.
CUDA resets.
Original CPU and newer tech upgrade.
Removing cache card and trying different memory configs.
PRAM...
