Macintosh SE and a HyperCharger '020 Accelerator

Alrighty, gang, I installed a 150 ohm resistor and placed 1 MB (4 x 256kb SIMMs), and have 4 MB installed on the accelerator, tried booting and… I got another Sad Mac code. I thought it could be the resistor, so after I removed the accelerator and it booted with 1 MB of RAM. I’ve attached a...

Macintosh SE and a HyperCharger '020 Accelerator

Just a quick update from me: I've switched back over to System 6.0.8 and noticed a bigger speed boost with the accelerator! I also bought some 150Ω resistors that will be arriving today. I'm going to get these added back onto the Logic Board and try booting with 1 MB to see what happens. At...

Macintosh SE and a HyperCharger '020 Accelerator

Oddly enough, these folks were also responsible for Ms. Pac-Man. I've been using my SE to mostly make a HyperCard game, so this is a silly, but interesting coincidence. It would be crazy if they replied! :)

Macintosh SE and a HyperCharger '020 Accelerator

I wanted to show something I found – I got the SE back together, and tinkered a bit with some different drivers. I came across one called the Dove Marathon Racer v2.3 that I decided to try out, and I noticed something odd. I don't know if this driver is actually doing anything, or is tricking...

Macintosh SE and a HyperCharger '020 Accelerator

I saw this older thread as well after looking for the Connectix Virtual utility and figured I would add it here as well (for possible reference): https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/levco-supermac-prodigy-se-accelerator-and-utility.32375/page-2

I have not - could I "borrow" some from my broken SE/30?

Macintosh SE and a HyperCharger '020 Accelerator

OK – I just installed 1 MB (4 x known working sticks) and tried booting it up with 4 MB on the accelerator, and… I get the same Sad Mac error (attached). I just want to reiterate that I will not be touching the jumpers, but I watched a video and saw something interesting - it looks like Adrian...

Macintosh SE and a HyperCharger '020 Accelerator

Will do! I'm going to use another set of 1 MB SIMMs. Also, I figured it would be wise for me to include this (I forgot to yesterday). This is what happened when booting with my previous set of 1 MB (4 256 KB SIMMs) on the logic board and 4 MB on the accelerator. I though that one of the SIMMs...

I will be leaving the jumpers 100% alone.

Macintosh SE and a HyperCharger '020 Accelerator

I'm content with the speed as is. :) One thing that @Phipli brought up had to do with the ROM – he had a hunch that trying different drivers could possibly help getting this card's ROM into the RAM, and possibly have it run a bit faster. I noticed on my card, that the card wasn't able to load...

Macintosh SE and a HyperCharger '020 Accelerator

At work at the moment, but I'll hold off on doing anything with the jumpers – I'll check out those reviews as soon as I can. :)

Macintosh SE and a HyperCharger '020 Accelerator

I’ve got good photos of those jumper positions, so I’m wondering if I should maybe try a few combinations at this point - there’s a chance I could get some of the ram to show up, lol

    Each 1MB SIMM has 8 chips. ;)

Macintosh SE and a HyperCharger '020 Accelerator

That’s a lot of possible combinations, lol! 😅 I’ll probably need to go that route in order to get it sorted out! Overall, the SE runs well!

Macintosh SE and a HyperCharger '020 Accelerator

There’s no crystal on this one that I’m aware of, but here are the set of jumpers - @Phipli noticed that my jumper config was identical to one he found on the forums a while back. I’ve attached mine close-up, as well as another one with the same config (this might be how it arrived in the...

Macintosh SE and a HyperCharger '020 Accelerator

I think something might be up with this one, lol - I grabbed this file last night and was able to get the v2 driver, but there was an “endless” .hqx file that never gave me a v1 driver. I tried this one out to be safe (the v2 driver) but nothing changed. I might try extracting these in Mac OS...

Macintosh SE and a HyperCharger '020 Accelerator

I have not - could you pass those exact two for me please? :) I’m going to try either one, but I want to make sure I can control which one is which, lol

I agree too - I cleaned the SIMMs but no changes - I’m going to leave well enough alone unless we find anything else. :)
