SiliconExpress IV vs 840av internal SCSI? w/SCSI2SDv6

Yeah I did manage to update the card to 2.1rc2. Today I played around with all the different SCSI2SD options and I also tried taking out all the termination resistors to see what would happen. Nothing changed. I've actually emailed ATTO tech support, they might get a laugh out of it, then again...

SiliconExpress IV vs 840av internal SCSI? w/SCSI2SDv6

Have you actually gotten the SEIV to boot from a SCSI2SD? Are there any special settings to be applied on the SCSI2SD? It doesn't seem to do anything.

    Recommended system extensions?

Cheers, I grabbed MacSSH and disabled a bunch of extensions. My NAS connects very easily with the chooser, so seems compatible. But one peculiarity is that when transferring lots of files, larger ones (like games) seem to lock up finder during transfer. I don't know whether this is down to the...

    550c power issues

Yeah you'd want to investigate the battery acid. Check the solder joints under the power connector and just any other general corrosion on the board, look for green pins on ICs etc. Also I don't know if these have a pmram battery, but if they do that is obviously something that can leak.

    Recommended system extensions?

Cheers for all the helpful info! I'm good for ram at 64mb luckily, and yes I have already witnessed the brittleness of this case. Don't worry though, I superglued the bit that broke off (A latch inside the case) I have lovingly cleaned the entire machine inside and out, re-capped it, cleaned the...

SiliconExpress IV vs 840av internal SCSI? w/SCSI2SDv6

According to this page: https://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/downloads There is a firmware that turns it into scsi manager compatible, to allow booting from.  I will attempt to flash this soon as I get a working OS installed.

Hi guys, When using a SILEXPRESS IV / 840AV SCSI in conjunction with a SCSI2SD v6 (the version that supports async etc) which would be the faster option? Thanks

    Advice for new 840AV owner

Today I removed all the caps & gave the mobo a full scrub down in alcohol and then rinsed in distilled water. Then I put it in the oven on 70-80c for about 30 mins to dry. I've got the new caps on order. By the way - I notice there are two seperate bays for RAM? Is the left hand side for...

    Advice for new 840AV owner

Cheers for the info guys. FYI _before_ turning the machine on I dismantled it to check the state of the motherboard. It seems there is quite a bit of green corrosion on the pins of IC's but the PRAM battery hasn't leaked. I am suspecting the caps, so I've ordered a set of new caps and will begin...

    Advice for new 840AV owner

Could anyone please identify these cards that were installed in my 840av? I am assuming one is for media encoding/decoding and the other is a graphics card? They are made by Media 100.
