Usually i have had to remove the sound chips and clean pads / legs and reinstall. Also, when you pulled old caps off you should always clean and check traces and vias for continuity. Sounds like something isn’t making good connection.
The reset button does work but it doesn’t chime again once pressed. The programmers button doesn’t produce the sad Mac chimes when pressed.
Like i said before it doesn’t do anything after the chime, no floppy or scsi activity. Just dead with the screen at the very top of the post this post...
Its the angle of picture. I checked all the legs. All is good with ue8. I have another se/30 that i just removed the ue8 and put back on as well. The picture of what its doing is posted above. Board chimes but thats it.
So found some bad vias, but still no change after bodge wires. Possible damage in inner layers? Found yet another bad via, but still no change. Checked voltages and am getting 5.03 and 12.63. High.more searching
Hmmm, never thought of app’s not triggering the fans. Both my 2.7’s and a dual 2.5 are aircooled now. Would rather have the original style lcs for all systems, but so hard to rebuild them and the cost or parts. The quad i wasnt sure of. It over heated and so i took it apart. The lcs had hardly...
Finally got around to putting this back together. I had to finish cutting down the heat sinks and making some mods to the base so the heat pipes would work from the processors. I also had replace a few caps on logic board. I broke off when removing lcs system, and another one had leakage which...
Yeah this is museum grade. No discolouring etc. i added a 4 meg memory card, blue scsi, and a new battery. Glad i didnt need a hybrid. That would be a pain.
Ok, replaced the hc133 from a powerbook 100 that was known to be working. Unit has powered on with keyboard but it isnt perfect. Not sure if Battery is fully charged
I will check again. I know that two ends of the resistor touched to round pads on the diagram you posted. Will make sure it was actually the akd
ok, so i get 5v at pin 16. I get some resistance from pin 9 to r189. I get nothing from r189 to akd.
So i grabbed another g5 dual 2.7. It had a leaky lcs as usual. I was able to get off the cpu cards with no significant damage. Cleaned them up and put them in a known working g5 tower. It powers on, no odd lights. Fans stable, and mouse lights up. I don’t get a chime and nothing on the display...
