So I've got a Mac SE which until recently was working perfectly. However, I have installed a set of SIMMs totaling 4MB, having increased this from the 1MB SIMMs.
After installing the new SIMMs, the machine started getting these one-pixel thick vertical jail-lines. Outside of the annoying visual...
Thank you everyone for the info in this thread, it's been very helpful in helping me troubleshoot my 400k drives. Currently, I've got two 400K drives of the exact same model, that being the Sony OA-D34V-02. I've got one of these internally installed in my Mac 512k and one in an external closure...
Been working on this for about 3 hours and I haven't been able to track down what is causing the problem.
I'll attach some pictures to see if any of you can spot what's wrong. I know the caps I'm using aren't surface mount, but sadly it's all I was able to get on short notice. I'll swap em to...

Will report back if...

Yeeeah, when...
I’d say that the PowerBook 5xx are the best to go with in terms of 68k reliability. Plus with them having 680LC040 chips in them they can easily run Mac OS 8.1 if that’s your jam. I’ve got a PowerBook 540c which I love. Although it’s got an internal SCSI drive, so drive replacements are awkward...
Hello!
First time poster here, but long time watcher. I've recently been restoring this PowerBook 165 that was sold as parts. I've re-capped the LCD and fixed the Connor Hard Disk using the epoxy resin trick. However, upon putting it back together after repairing the HDD I've been getting this...
