Has anyone used a Raspberry PI as a bridge to print from Serial port on Mac

I found an Apple service manual and it is different than a standard RS232 even in RS232 mode. I will make a conversion cable to test this out tomorrow. Quick question about the driver. Is the postscript driver on the standard Mac OS 1.1 macwrite disk? Thanks, Corey

Has anyone used a Raspberry PI as a bridge to print from Serial port on Mac

So a regular 9 pin serial null modem cable will work?

Has anyone used a Raspberry PI as a bridge to print from Serial port on Mac

Ok, now the big question... Is the DB9 on the back of the Mac 128K for printer (and modem) a standard RS232?  I don't think it is, so what kind of cable should I be looking for?  If not is there a link to pin outs so I can make a cable?

Has anyone used a Raspberry PI as a bridge to print from Serial port on Mac

So I have a spare lantronix UDS 10 box that can send data from a serial port to an IP port.  Do you think that could work?

Has anyone used a Raspberry PI as a bridge to print from Serial port on Mac

Now that my Mac 128k is up and running, I am now up to my next challenge.   How do I get it to print on my newer Postscript capable HP Laserprinter now that HP only ships printers that have USB and Network connectivity.   Was thinking there has to be a way to use Raspberry Pi to do this by...

    400 k drive missing felt

Works perfectly. I hooked it up without a case to watch it to make sure the felt sits flat on the disk to put even pressure. Initialized a couple of disks and copy data and flipped the disk between the internal and external drive a few times. Worked perfectly.

    400 k drive missing felt

Here are some pics of the piece I made installed.  Still have to take pics on how to make it for those interested.

    400 k drive missing felt

Just realized I should explain this better. Not sure a picture will do now that it is installed because I picked a black plug. The plug isn't one of those rubber things but something that looks like a plastic thumb tack so that it can provide a flat surface to glue the felt to. It then...

    400 k drive missing felt

For felt I was just going to use the felt from a new audio cassette cut down. That is what I have used in the past for non-Mac drives missing felt. I looked around my workshop for anything that might be used to replace the missing plastic piece so I wouldn't have to scrounge one from another...

    400 k drive missing felt

OK, I have the same problem.  My external 400k drive I just got and started cleaning/re-lubing is missing the plastic piece that has the felt pad.  I checked thingiverse and no one has made one on a 3d printer yet. Anyone have an alternate source for this part or what other drives can be...

Pics of my finished Mac 128k

I guess I have joined the world of "tribble" compact macs. I just picked up a nice 512k with an external disk drive, carrying case and an imagewriter I for $68 locally. I'll most likely use the external drive from that one for my 128k. I don't plan on adding a keypad, not a big fan of them...

Pics of my finished Mac 128k

The beige around the logo on the front is a great color reference.  It doesn't yellow since it's painted and not plastic.  The case now matches that perfectly.  It's still beige, just not tinted yellow at all.   The white balance could be off on the camera.  The last 3 pics were from my iPhone...

Pics of my finished Mac 128k

Forgot to take before pictures...  but it was more yellow than than a yellow banana peel. Anyway... Internally completely recapped Analog and CPU board including the Paper Film cap. Not, the best pics... I just noticed one corner still looks yellow in two of the pics, but in the real world...

Removing Serial Number stick on Mac 128k before de-yellowing

So I bought three peroxide "developer 20" one gallon jugs (6%) for about $20.  I dumped two in and filled up a container. so that it covered all the parts.  I left it for three days aggitating it every few hours. I also rotated the container in the sun and brought it in at night.  I used the...

Complete Mac 128k recap completed, question before power on

Nevermind.  I just took a stab at it with everything left the way it was as a starting point.  After adjustment,  I'm at 5.00 V and 12.35v now and it seems good. Will post pictures of the system soon.  I think it came out great....

Complete Mac 128k recap completed, question before power on

So I have completely recapped both the analog and CPU board including the safety "X" capacitor.    Next step is power on.   Any tricks to adjusting the voltage?  Should I turn it all the way down or put it in the middle, then power on and adjust or will the crowbar prevent any damage if the...

Removing Serial Number stick on Mac 128k before de-yellowing

One note I realized I might have missed.  This only works for the main unit sticker.  Don't use it for the keyboard or mouse.  They are done differently.

    Quick Mac 128k capacitor question...

When I removed one of the 33uf it was apparently gooey underneath. Don't think it was adhesive. I think I had a leaky cap. So I guess they can go bad.

J1 analog board connector question in Mac 128k

This being the first Compact mac I have ever opened up I didn't realize till yesterday when I went to recap the boards before reassembly that a previous owner removed J1 connector on the analog board and hard wired the wires from the tube to the analog board. So my question is, to be more...
