    HFS Workbench for MacOS X

UPDATE: Based on your feedback I've started adding some new features that show more details about the images: block size and driver information. When testing several images (including a Zip drive), I get strange values for the number and size of blocks that I can't explain. Also interesting...

SCSI HD doesn't boot internally in SE/30 (but works externally)

I’d tend to the 220 Ohms based on general scsi specs. But maybe someone else here over has more experience? In my opinion it’s more secure to use an internal Terminator: https://store.cwc-group.com/insc50maacte.html (or another terminated internal device)

SCSI HD doesn't boot internally in SE/30 (but works externally)

In my opinion the resistors are the green ones you have framed. They are called ‚resistor network‘. Anyway - the termination is often secured by a fuse. Btw the info you have linked is czech, polish or so.

    HFS Workbench for MacOS X

I got one step further to handle dc 4.2 images in a better way by embedding libdc42 recommended by cheesestraws. Using this lib will make it possible to generate them. The lib is up and running! And no LaPorta, you are not unique :) I am also Mac focused, which are all having access to my...

    HFS Workbench for MacOS X

Ah great - very helpful :) Thanks I‘ll take a look at the format specs and let you know. Is it to be able to mount that images using DC?

    HFS Workbench for MacOS X

That’s another long story :) As sit is a proprietary file format it is not quite easy to read and create such files. Tough I‘m testing an open source library to get that feature integrated. In the meantime I’ll integrate an „export as hfs volume“ feature for folders.

    HFS Workbench for MacOS X

Right now it’s possible to strip the dc headers, to open up dc 4.2 images with hfsutils. What do you think of? Long story… As far as I know, it is not possible to map complete filesystem structures with BinHex or MacBin. Although it would be possible to replicate the folder structure in the...

    HFS Workbench for MacOS X

Sure, after years of using open source software I have to give something back ;) I‘ll put it on github with binary release downloads. It is pre-pre-pre-pre-alpha right now. But in a few weeks I‘d love to have some beta testers… Any suggestion is welcome. It’s the many (little) ideas that make...

    HFS Workbench for MacOS X

Yep, it does. Though I have to tame the os sandbox to get it stable. Indicators for showing if a partition map is present and if a blessed folder is on the partition are already implemented. It should be not too complicated to add informations about installed drivers. With a little help it...

    HFS Workbench for MacOS X

It’s SwiftUI with a splash of C. I am trying to get a sit compressor working. That way whole directory structures could be im- and exported… Could be tricky. hfsutils are supporting block devices - I think it would be possible to integrate that with the gui.

    HFS Workbench for MacOS X

Hi folks, I think it's time to share with you what I've been working on for the past few weeks... Background: After I had my old SE in the basement for a long time, I got it out again some time ago. Downloading files on my MacBook Pro from the Internet and getting them onto the Mac was quite...

SE/30 advice needed regarding previous repair

I do it the same way: Gently rubbing the pads/gunk with lots (!) of flux and desoldering braid. Be careful and do not overheat pads and surrounding areas… After cleaning the board this way, I use little ipa (99%) and a special electronic cleaner to minimize corrosion effects.

Experimental VNC (Remote Desktop) Server for the Classic Macintosh

Great software @marciot - I tried it today on my se/30 on sys 7.1.2 and it runs quite good! After using it for about a hour it freezed, force quit and restart was possible without rebooting the machine. Thanks, very usable piece of software!

    Macintosh SE software recommendations

I‘m happy running 7.1.2 on my se because of way more software options. Although you need to have maxed out RAM… FutureBasic, HyperCard and Filemaker II are Must-Haves. One of my favorite games is Sokoban - it runs on System 6 as well.
