I reflowed the ribbon cable right under those lcd caps but that didn't seem to make a difference. I noticed that usually if it's a ribbon issue I should lose 1/4 of the bottom screen right and they'll show up yellowish?
actually, listening closely to the speakers, there is the famous mac death chime a few seconds after a white screen comes up. It is very very faint, even with headphones. Not a caps issue because it's already been recapped and the sound is loud and clear after it boots.
What's weird is that it...
Sorry, forgot to add that it is the same when booting from a system 6.08 floppy. The sound control panel there shows up and works but nothing comes out of the speaker or headphones. Can system sound be disabled by ROM since it seems like this was an old machine for a school
Weird that in the schematics here: https://github.com/nickpunt/nubus-se30/blob/master/Schematics/bomarc/Macintosh%20LC%20II%20Schematic%20(bomarc).pdf
It says 8V is connected to the positive side of C21? But the positive side of my C21 is 12V. They are not connected
No chime and no sound at all from this LC II even before recap. Getting the following error message when attempting to launch sound settings under MacOS 7.1.
Recapped and reflowed UB10 (344S1033A) and results are still the same. Has anyone seen this message before just trying to launch sound...
Turned out to be the motherboard. I swapped it with a known good G3 beige and it boots!
But so weird that a board would just die like this randomly. Now it's just black screen in the beige too
PRAM reset does absolutely nothing. Not even second bong
Reset hotkey ctrl-option-reset works but just...
Was working perfectly. Left it off for 2 days and now it won't boot.
First it chimed, turned on with a completely white screen on the CRT but then won't continue further
Turned it off, restart and still a white screen but now it's off center
Tried a pram reset at boot and now even the crt won't...
Arg! This just happened again on another brand new portable M5120 that I acquired and recapped. This one would always have the charging status though, even when nothing is plugged in. Is it supposed to happen this often?
At this rate im gonna have to buy 2 fuses a day
I think that must be it! The plug is somehow shorting out the battery. Maybe a new charging port will help? Which resettable fuse did you end up using?
Yeah, it might be showing that it's charging because of the switch in the power jack. Though it's strange that it will still show a battery...
Fully recapped and working but this is the second time plugging in a known working portable power adapter (works just fine on other machines) blew the F1 battery fuse. The machine would instantly turn off but can be restarted using power from the power adapter. Just will not turn on with...
Reflowed and heated the ASC chip and now it no longer crashes but still no sound. Sometimes it will chime when booting but the chime continues and won't stop. Sometimes the speaker will pop non stop but the computer works fine. Sometimes there is no sound at all. Sometimes the speaker pops twice...
