Hi and thanks again for all the support.
The icon at loading seems ok (not crossed over) but as I wrote, the next one appears just over it.
After the reinstall I never made it to have the control icon showing in the menu bar.
I am wondering if maybe something happened with the resource fork...
Here we go with some updates with MacOS 7.5.3:
having both the extension and control panel kind of does the trick regarding the freeze at load, meaning that everything is loaded at boot... IF the control panel is set to OFF - but then, even if I turn it on after, it doesnt seem to me that the...
Unpatching System and System 7.5 Update documents (reverting the byte value to 0003 instead of patched 0005 as shown here: https://vintageapple.org/gamba2/os8_se30.html ) hangs 7.5.3 at boot with ROM Simm installed.
Thanks I am doing it tonight!
EDIT:
I forgot to mention, this was done to install a ROMSimm allowing me to use the 8MB of RAM installed in this SE/30 - so maybe this is causing some trouble? Now that I recall correctly, the patch was maybe needed to help the ROMSimm get along with the...
Hi everybody,
I have had the fantastic @Bolle set of slot expander + ethernet bracket + Carrera 040 clone in my SE30 for a while and everything was perfect.
I had to reinstall System and I wasn't able to find the old Carrera SE30 control - and if I use the newer one (v.1.8) it hangs at boot on...
Thanks a lot.
BTW looking for a RC16A 68882, I found RC50A branded chips. I wonder how much legit they are, but in case, it could be that there were faster models in the end.
Maybe this brings us a bit OT, but:
I have a 68881 installed in my Mac II, and a 68882 ready, that I would put once I can get PAL SIMMs and increase RAM over 8mb - BUT :
it is a RC40A, so it should run at 40MHz (instead of the 68881 speed of 16Mhz).
I guess that due to the system / bus speed...
I have had the 68851 PMMU ready for months while waiting for these PAL SIMMs, so today I wrote to Garrett on Tindie, to ask if some new batch would be coming anytime soon. Maybe @David Cook if you write too, we can make a bit of a pressure and maybe convince him? I even proposed to make 16MB...
Thanks @jeremywork that copy of the page with jumper settings brought back my card from the dead!
It would be great if anybody archived the whole site... I have another 290 card that the app says is not functioning correctly, I get an error code 11 and I wonder what it stands for.
thanks for reminding me, the answer is not yet, as now I have ben dragged into having an internal 3.5" MO drive in my Mac II thanks to some of you guys :D
I love LCD conversions of CRTs. I have components sitting in my garage to convert my Apple IIgs CRT (which takes a step more, with a PI zero doing HDMI conversion of RGB signals...) but I definitely need more time... and maybe a competent eye close to me, when I will open the CRT to discharge...
