Its been a while since I had a 610 so someone may need to chime in on this one...
If the PRAM battery doesn't provide enough power it may cause a problem with the display. Similar to the LC 475 if you power on, power off, power on then you get a video display. Replace the current battery with a...
Even with practice, handwriting or printing on the 2100 is still slower than a keyboard (Palm or Newton models) for me when I'm working on a longer document or sitting down.
Now, if we switch to standing up or in a place without a flat surface then handwriting wins :)
This is from the same site that Quadraman posted in this thread

This guy has created an adapter so that you can attach a Palm Stowaway keyboard. Way cheaper than the adapter that I bought a few years ago... and works just as well...
This is an interesting question. You should throw this up on the NewtonTalk list. Somebody there will be able to give you a definitive answer one way or the other
Unfortunately, the 5xx series Powerbooks have so-called "intelligent" batteries that can appear to be bad even though they can physically hold a charge.
If you google powerbook 540 batteries you'll find a number of different methods for resurrecting these batteries. None are guaranteed to work...
With a 9500/8500 you run a pretty good chance of screwing something up if you don't at least put the board back in place.
Better safe than sorry esp. if it takes less than 5 minutes to take it apart
I can strip an 8xx/8xxx/9xxx computer down to nothingness in less than 5 minutes, too. But I still hate the case design :)
The biggest issue in my mind is installing RAM. Lets just say as an example, you add RAM, reassemble and reboot and you get nothing. You have a bad stick of RAM... Now...
You're kidding, right?
The 8500/9500 cases require a "bit" of extra work to get the motherboard out. All the PCI cards have to be taken out, all the connectors to the motherboard have to be disconnected, a screw taken out, the power button assembly needs to be carefully removed, then the logic...
What do you mean by a passphrase? I downloaded the files and opened them and off I went. I'll take a look and see if I can find that old folder of software
Patrickool, try going to the HP site and downloading any scanner software that is Mac compatible. I'm not sure which browser you are using but check the URL of the download site. If I remember correctly it is something like ftp.hp.com. Have a look through the ftp site and find the scanner...
If this is the case that you have
Item # 170118812972 (at that auction site)
The lid of the 2000/2100 slides underneath the angled elastic band. I can't remember if you needed to use any velcro on the bottom of the Newton's case.
I have the smaller nylon case and sliding the lid underneath...
I'm not really fond of AAUI transceivers. The connector doesn't really make a solid connection with the duo dock (or Apple laser printer) and can slip out if you move your equipment around. Besides, its way more fun to open the dock and install the Nubus card :)
Edit: spelling
If you slid the case of the Classic and looked at the internals, I don't think that you would be that intimidated after a while. You're not going anywhere near the CRT or the "Red Wire of Doom". I do remember being nervous the first time I cracked open my SE/30 but I had(!) to install the...
With any of the Duos if you want to get online then you need to find of the micro-docks that have 10BaseT. Not the easiest things to find anymore
Otherwise you need to get a duo dock and add a Nubus ethernet card
