Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
The following prices include US First Class postage. I'll ship sets of 10 internationally, but you'll have to cover the cost of shipping.
1 set (2 of each screw type): $7
5 sets: $21
10 sets: $35
PM me with how many you want and your shipping info. I'll PM back with PayPal / Venmo options.
Thanks to everyone for letting me know there's interest. I'll figure out pricing/shipping stuff soon and will update you here. I'll probably set up something on eBay and also offer them for direct sale for those who might like to save a bit of money.
Some of my compact Macs are either missing or have corroded case screws. They're weird specs of course, so I couldn't find proper off the shelf replacements.
So I did what any sane person would do and had new ones made to spec.
These replace the top plastic threading and bottom machine screws...
@stepleton Yes I'm referring to the 'motherboard' which is basically a backplane. There are two resistor packs on it, including the one in my photo. I haven't bothered measuring since everything in that area is so damaged. The schematics for resistors packs on the other boards state 3.3k, but...
I'm attempting to restore a Mac XL that suffered some pretty bad rusting. The IO area of the motherboard all needs to be replaced. Does anyone here know what the values of the 8x choke inductors at the mouse connector?

I put a piece of steel over the plastic connector (to avoid melting it) and use tacky flux and hot air to remove the caps. Twisting seems like a great way to tear a pad off that might be okay if you use hot air instead.
I have a stack of Quantum ProDrive LPS HDDs that have sticky head mechanism bumpers. I previously tried replacing a set with stiff 1/4" water filter tubing. It worked, but was a pain to get over the flanges. I recently found some cheap silicone tubing on amazon in the exact dimensions as the...
I posted about this on r/VintageApple, but figured you all might appreciate hearing more of the story.
Here are some photos, including a couple not in the reddit post.
On Tuesday, someone tipped me off about an Apple box sitting out on the curb. They said it looked like something was inside of...
Hmm I have a classic that is showing that screen with the lines when no memory expansion is installed, and distorted bars when it is installed. Yours boots if you remove the expansion card?
You can find my modern redraw of the Apple schematics here: https://github.com/mishimasensei/macse30mlb
There are PDFs there you can download, but I'd recommend getting the KiCAD files so you can highlight the connections you're checking. It's very handy!
Apple II folks, can you help with this? I have a disk I’m trying to image, but can’t even get it to read. I verified I can read other disks. In the video below is a Fantavision disk that doesn’t read side A, but does read side B. The disk to image doesn’t read at all. It sounds similar (but a...
@desertroutI need to double check, but I think this one (and a bunch of other boards) recovered after an ultrasonic clean. I recently got a tank and it recovered 6 boards that were previously full of gremlins despite lots of manual washing. Totally worth it if you work on MLBs regularly!
