I have a nice condition Woz edition IIgs with ROM 01 (342-00770-B) that fails its self test with "System bad 06010000". I understand that means there's a read/write issue to the serial IC.
The solder joints of the Zilog SCC looked good under a microscope but I flooded with flux and reflowed...
Oh I didn’t take it that way. I just know people here care about preservation so figured I’d share that nothing was harmed in the making of this project :-)
Thanks for the kind words. This was built out of trashed SE and SE/30 parts and a spare IIc monitor. I figured I can always undo the CRT mod too. BTW even the frame was a rusted one from a battery bombed SE/30. I had it acid stripped and then zinc plated. It’s very blingy compared to the...
Just the bare CRT. The yoke is different between the two models. So I just swapped the bare CRTs and then adjusted the yoke until the picture was straight.
I might have gone a bit far customizing Kermit. In addition to the green case from @maceffects, I made a custom all green LED clear fan, green HDD LED and today swapped in a green phosphor CRT from a IIc monitor. It's hard to capture in photos and videos, but looks a perfect shade of green in...
This worked great on my SCSI2SD 5.5 on a Macintosh SE. My exact config is below. Nice work!
It'd be great if there were an even simpler option for newcomers to just run an installer or something and end up with a configured SCSI2SD and imaged SD card.
So I installed this in a working SE/30 and connected to a Macintosh 12-inch RGB monitor. The monitor wasn't recognized and didn't seem to attempt to sync. I'm guessing this card was only intended to work with portrait displays. Mine are in storage other than a Radius Color Pivot which I assume...
I recently found this card inside of a battery-bombed SE/30. It appears to be a Sigma Designs Pageview card and has a DB15 connection. Perhaps this can be used with normal Macintosh monitors?
Does anyone have info on this card or know where to find drivers for it?
I tried mounting the HDD in...
The powerbook side. I compared to a working 180C which was not short at the socket. Will check the battery terminals, but they should be open since no battery was installed. Are you suggesting applying bench power to the battery terminals?
I haven't noticed one around, so here is a map of the Macintosh TV's tuner card. The original caps are electrolytic, but the photo shows them replaced with tantalums. All are size B, but you could probably get away with using size C caps. There are some odd values on this card compared to caps...
I have a PowerBook 180C that does not power on and heats up at the connector. I checked for scorches near the barrel and DC-in board but didn't see anything suspect. I checked the barrel connections and found the tip and sleeve shorted to ground. The insertion detect pin works okay. I removed...
Recreating this post since it was lost to recent site troubles.
Like many of you, I've experienced screw bosses on 100 series portables crumble when even a small amount of torque is applied in either direction. @ThisDoesNotCompute posted a great video going over the replacement of the display...
Welp it turns out this was my own doing. I misread the hand drawn semi-schematic for the motherboard and had bodged pin 39 from the Mem1 slot to pin 39 on the Mem2 slot. Those are used to detect if both cards are installed. One should be connected to +5v and the other to Ground. After undoing...
Got new ROMs which got me back to 'normal' where the machine will boot but only recognize 512K RAM with both boards installed.
Cleaning the CPU and socket with contact cleaner didn't help.
@sunderCan you tell from the photo above which chips these would be? I'm unfamiliar and it wasn't clear...
