    PowerBook 1400 Hinge Fix Shim

Personally I love the dark grey plastics and 1400 style lid + bookcover, its got a ton of personality and very of the era design. Just want to make sure that's preserved!

Hypothesis: Apple intended to launch the LC475/Q605 in late summer 1993

I have a hypothesis: Apple intended to launch the LC 475 / Performa 475 / Quadra 605 sometime in late summer of 1993, such as August or Sept, rather than announcing in late October for sale in Nov-Dec. This is an attempt to solve the mystery of many sightings of Performa 475's and LC 475's in...

    PowerBook 1400 Hinge Fix Shim

Saw a sheet metal laser cutting service called SendCutSend posted over in tinkerdifferent. Wondering if sheet metal piece would be stronger / last longer than a 3d printed plastic part, or if this part would even be possible to make using such a method.

    SE/30 PDS adapter w 5v power

Something I noticed over in Japan is this SE/30 dual PDS adapter, specifically with a daughterboard to supply 5v power. I've wondered about this need for additional power for accelerators (ofc needing the adapter card in addition to this) and those of us who try to cram in a bunch of PDS cards...

I made a little video about my efforts to combine three PowerBook 1400s into one ultra-1400

@CircuitBored was poking around for 1400 info and stumbled upon your video and thought it was quite funny and informative, as were the others of yours I saw. The tone was just right. Keep it up!

Added Vga out to the Color Classic (mystic)

Nice! A contemporaneous solution to this was the Presenter 575, which clips onto the video chip, grabs its signal, and outputs VGA & HD15.

LCIII frame buffer capture from card in VRAM SIMM slot?

Yeah that's my MacPresenter. I don't know if I ever properly tested it, I recall it being hard to get the PLCC socket to stick on the chip and I never got around to putting doublesided tape on it to just stick it on. Happy to send it off to someone to reverse engineer. Looks like someone just...

LCIII frame buffer capture from card in VRAM SIMM slot?

@Trash80toHP_Mini another method could be if there's a video chip of some kind that can be piggybacked off of using a standard PLCC socket, like this Presenter 575 that grabs the video signal from LC 575's to put out to VGA/HD15:

Reverse Engineering the Macintosh IIsi Logic Board

Well it all started with your thought experiments @Trash80toHP_Mini ! Exciting to see this come together and potentially unlock a whole "new" set of options on SE30 with nubus. Spotting that radius board on eBay was a bit like that Asimov quote: The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the...

A 'once and for all' declaration regarding L88M mask MC68040 CPUs

I don't have it on hand and can't quantify, but I remember it runs warm to the touch without heatsink at 33mhz in my mystic. It was a pretty big difference from XCs I've felt.
