    Wifi Extension Development Thread

Hey @ants, I've been messing around with this great extension. I have an OpenWRT device all set up, and I can connect to the internet using your extension just fine on an iMac G3 running 9.2.1 using it. I'm trying to get the same functionality on my SE running System 7.1. I've put the extension...

Mac SE - checkerboard and repeated chimes

After taking a hairdryer to the board to troubleshoot, the board worked fine, and has continued to do so since.

    ASANTE MacCon+ TK/TP problem

As dochili said, this could be an issue with a new network device not seeing the Mac properly... ants had a same blinking green light - the culprit was that the card was unable to auto negotiate, so setting the device he was using to connect to 10 mbps half duplex manually allowed him to connect

Mac SE - checkerboard and repeated chimes

Just took a hair dryer to the board, after heat, it starts right up! so, the ROMs are a likely culprit? Anything else that I should look over?

Mac SE - checkerboard and repeated chimes

Interesting, I’ll give this a go.. sure seems like this problem could be really difficult to track down. Might start out with hair drying the board to see if it starts right up after that.

Mac SE - checkerboard and repeated chimes

So, the SE board exhibits checkerboard for ~2 minutes, than beeps and all is well an SE/30 board has no issues in the same configuration, so I’m assuming the issue is found on the logic board

Mac SE - checkerboard and repeated chimes

Put in a known good power supply from an SE/30, exhibits same issue. Analog board likely culprit?

Mac SE - checkerboard and repeated chimes

Don’t have a scope, but I used an analog multimeter to double check against the DMM and the needle didn’t move

Mac SE - checkerboard and repeated chimes

Voltages are 12.7 and 5.08, which seems fairly healthy.

Mac SE - checkerboard and repeated chimes

Working on a Mac SE. It seemed to work fine, when I got it about a month ago. Tried it the other night and had some issues - it would chime, and chime, and chime, then display Sad Macs.  I didn't get around to taking it apart till now, found a battery in the early process of leaking. Removed the...

    SE/30 with graphics issue

I’ve had this issue on iPhone, I run it through preview on Mac and compress it a bit, uploads fine after.

Just curious, why is OpenWRT 18.06 required for this extension?

Fun with colour on my SE/30

Have you seen the controllers like this one that can be reconfigured for numerous displays (including 5V vs 3.3v) through the use of jumpers? I'm no expert, but I *think* you can get away with a cheap, generic LVDS controller - no need to spend a lot of money on one tied to your specific...

Mac SE... with hard drive, network card???

Pushed it in all the way, powered on, it works!!! No time to go exploring now but I'm ecstatic!

Mac SE... with hard drive, network card???

Yeah that board stuck out like a sore thumb! I pushed it in a little but didn't want to push too hard. Does it need to go in further? I'm just paranoid about breaking the glass underneath the board.

Mac SE... with hard drive, network card???

Yeah, I wasn't sure I had a long enough screwdriver... but I do! The hard drive is a Seagate ST-325N, looks like a 20MB disk.  Pretty obvious why the CRT is not turning on... really hoping it isn't cracked.  How do I reattach this without damaging myself or the glass? I know the CRT in these...

Mac SE... with hard drive, network card???

Just nabbed this Mac SE off local craigslist.  When I got home, noticed something interesting - looks like some network card. Looks exactly like an Asante Maccon for the SE/30, can’t find any that look like this for the SE. Makes a beep when I turn it on. I can hear a hard drive spin up as...

    RaSCSI without ICs?

Were you able to make it work with 68030 Macs?

    RaSCSI Development Thread

Also very curious about this.  I don't have much experience in PCB design/fabrication, and my Japanese isn't very good... But in addition to SCSI emulation, the Raspberry Pi could provide internet access over serial. Also see this thread regarding internet. The PL2303 USB - Serial boards are...
