Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
FUSE-HFS works properly in Monterey and Ventura, btw. I'm using it for most of my classic Mac image tasks now. Automatic mount arbitration and everything.
I should mention that it runs *flawlessly* with my Newer Tech G3 card. It's been burning at 100% CPU for 36 hours, compiling a bunch of Tigerbrew packages, and is perfectly happy and stable.
Have done, different slots on both Bandits, with no change.
The odd thing to me is that the card worked fine pre-flash (usable in Debian PPC), and showed up in System Profiler and to the flashing utility — all until it was flashed, when it started to hang
Yeah, I went there first. I've recapped the logic board, and the power supply is a new 450W ATX PSU.
There's no change with PCI cards unplugged, bare bones RAM, and no drives connected. I've reset everything that can be reset, including in OF and on the logic board, and I've done a deep reset...
I had an Epson Zip drive back in the day, with my Power Computing machines, and got nostalgic, so went looking.
They were (unsurprisingly) more common in Japan, and I was able to find an affordable one on Yahoo! Japan (via Buyee, iirc). There's another brand that also offered a beige Zip drive...
A while back, a fellow hobbyist generously traded me an XLR8 Mach Carrier ZIF card for a Sonnet Crescendo G4 card (I have the rare late revision PowerTower Pro that "cannot and will never be able to" run Sonnet cards, per Sonnet.
And the ZIF card worked pretty well for a while. It was spotty...
Any insights into why a flashed SIIG 3112A card might cause a freeze on a PowerTower Pro (9500 based) before Open Firmware loads? The unflashed card did not, and flashed under OS 9 without issue.
Ah. I was under the impression that Netatalk supplied its own AppleTalk stack, and that's what was removed in 3.x.
I'll get involved in testing the userland stack you mention.
Excellent! I've been able to build 2.3.0 on Ventura linking to berkeley-db@4 from Homebrew, but so far haven't gotten it running ("socket: Address family not supported by protocol family"). Exciting if it'll work.
These are the two loose PowerComputing logic boards I have. One is a PowerCurve board, the other is a PowerCenter Plus. They have the same riser slot, in the same position. (Forgive the dust on the PowerCurve, I recently rescued it from a storage locker).
Ah, OK. Sorry, missed that somehow when searching for the IC number. Oops. I have a programmer but...
The properly flashed card with the 39SF010 hangs my PT Pro before the OS loads anyway, so I suppose it's a lost cause.
Thanks. Fine work, in any case.
