Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Thanks, this is awesome! I'll probably try to set this up if System 7.6.1 keeps bending me over...
Do you know which Ethernet LC PDS cards are supported? (I'm not averse to recompiling kernels, obviously)
Also do you know if xf68 has been working at all? I'd love to use a q605 as a thin X...
So... It's been a while, guys!
On Tuesday I met Danamania, did a tech trade...
I gave her my SE/30 and Colour Classic (they needed a loving home ...) and got in return that most prized of 68ks ... the IIci! I'm planning to A/UX it up when I get said IIci working, especially now I've put in a...
Because we all know that computers are useless unless they can do Facebook and Twitter. *ducks*
(p.s. Do you need a French localisation? I might be able to arrange it.)
As always, Bunsen, your optimism amazes.
You see, for these monikers to work, the reader must have either smarts, or brains. And while I'm sure the type of people who've the good judgement to come to our fine wiki probably possess one, the other, or both; that much cannot be guaranteed for all...
K, and how's it done on the Mac?
Seems I have no hope in hell of doing anything from either Linux (unixnpi) or my Windows 3.1 VM (VirtualBox + DOS 6.22 + Windows for Workgroups 3.11 + NCK 1.0) ...
My 5500 is being very naughty and not behaving, so I'm going to try either setting up my Quadra...
OK!
I have the dimensions of the plug for the 3W adaptor (7.0V 0.5A ... this brings more questions.)
barrel diameter ø 4.8mm
pin diameter ø 1.5mm
barrel depth | 9.5mm
Apparently the 9W adaptor can be used to charge all Newtons... but its output is 7.5V 1.2A - the draw from an OMP is 7.0V...
So guys.
I have an OMP here now, courtesy of macgreg... I'm currently working on using a VM with serial passthrough to run NCU for Windows... as soon as I find my serial cable that should be able to be done! :D
The next question I have is - How does one make an eBook for a Newton? I can see...
I'm a user over at wikipedia and have done structural work there, including reworking of and creation of semicomplex templates, I've ported several wikipedia templates to other mediawiki installations (for instance, DigitalNoise wiki when it was running, and to my own MediaWiki install which I...
I'm merely attempting to be honest - to say anything other than that my personal tastes in efficiently organising reference materials (and I've grown to be quite proficient at hierarchising things, though I can understand the point about multiple intersecting hierarchies - that is something that...
Hey there again, 68kMLAwikians!
I'd like to request permission and blessings for a reorganisation of the 68kMLA wiki ...
The current wiki has an inconsistent structure, parts being extremely well organised, some parts not so much.
The amount of things accessible from the front page is nowhere...
I have no Newtons as yet.
A forum member has promised me a bunch of eMates but ... well, let's just say that thus far the eMates have failed to materialise, so time will tell ;)
There is no doubt in my mind that this voltage regulator will work. The theory is sound, the schematic correct...
Thankyou kindly, I believe, however, that all three are identical. I merely need the measurements from one.
However, if you could confirm that the 100/110/120/130 takes the same size, that would be handy. If not, don't fret.
Once again, thanks!
Hey there guys.
I'm just wondering if anyone with physical access to a Newton MessagePad 2x00 or Newton eMate 300 and a pair of vernier calipers can help me here.
I need to know the barrel width (outer diameter of the power plug) and pin width (inner diameter of the power plug) for the DC...
I've found that hardware support for New World machines is a lot nicer on the free *nices, and also that we can boot directly to nix on those instead of going through mac os.
I second Bunsen here. New World ROMs are a good requirement.
Largely the same technical reasons that OpenBSD is superior to NetBSD. NetBSD is falling apart due to lack of developers, lack of users, lack of care, lack of commonsense... The motto of the NetBSD Project has, for some time, been "Of course it runs NetBSD..." - at present a more apt truism...
Hey John, I have a further question.
I'm unable to download this until the 1st of the month (broadband internet connections in Australia are criminally limited) - so I figured I may as well be informed.
While it's not as though the 68030 has much that can be done in the way of code path...
Thanks kindly! Out of curiousity, other than -m68030 and presumably -O2 what are your compile-time optimisations? :)
Also, is there a reasonable way to use my Radius 24AC as the video output for console/X ? While I doubt X11 can take advantage of the acceleration on it, I would at least...
I need help with getting NetBSD on my Mac IIvx.
Also, does anyone know if there are optimised installation sets for the 68030?
First hurdle - what do I actually physically need to download to prep the IIvx for running NetBSD?
(All the documentation I could find is ancient.)
Nicely done! I had a PowerBook 1400c/166 like yours, alas with only 16MB RAM - even secondhand and having been quite loved, it served me through highschool right until the logic board fritzed.
Congratulations!
