Hello all, Sorry if this is a bit of silly/obvious question I've just got an SE/30 with an Daynaport E/30 network card. Am I right in thinking (from searching on here) that I need an AUI>RJ45 adaptor to plug in an ethernet cable? If so I do not suppose (a) there's a good source in the UK or (b)...
Thanks, but I'm a pragmatist and if people more experienced than me tell me it's got a low chance of success then I'd prefer to listen to their expert advice rather than go head long into a project that will probably just frustrate me! I'll chalk up my work so far to "good preparation!".
As a...
So I bought this SE/30 showing the horizontal lines on the screen from ebay as the price was good enough to take a risk and I was able to collect locally. Unfortunately when I got it home it had been battery bombed. At this point I thought it was way beyond my skills to restore. However, after...
So despite my poor soldering technique I managed to desolder and remove the ROM socket on my battery bombed SE/30. It was quite corroded underneath and a few legs are just knackered. So I need to source a new one. I've seen a few links to US based suppliers, but none in the UK or even the EU...
I took apart the battery pack again and monitored the polyswitch and thermister temps whilst charging. The ambient temperature was 20degC and neither of them got higher than 23degC (before the error). However, I've found with the lid shut I do not see an error and it appears to charge fine. So...
I got myself a Laserwriter 4/600 PS a few months ago. It's single colour and networkable (LocalTalk). I had quite an adventure as even though it takes a fairly common HP toner cartridge (HP 92274A) these are all quite old now and the wiper blade (that removes excess toner) will likely have...
I've got a problem with a rebuilt battery pack where after a few minutes of charging it gives the error that the charger is outputting too high.
I rebuilt the battery with four NiMH batteries with solder tabs using these instructions.
Once assembled I got 2.54v from each pair (I forgot to...
Thanks. Where do you think this is coming from? I did notice that launching NetChat also immediately causes this error (although not with the workaround @Tashtari suggested. At a wild guess could somebody else be running this app and that's causing it. ..or could the cause be closer to home...
Yup. That does the trick. Previously just launching and clicking LOGIN on ChatNet would cause the issue. Now the network remains up. I assume that the sporadic network issue will do too since it was the same error. Again, many thanks!
Thanks for that extremely quick reply! I think the ink had barely dried on my post before you give me a solution :-) I will try as you suggest now and report back! Cheers
I'm seeing fairly regular hangs with TashRouter. This is quite recent and I think this is probably happening due to the number of zones on #globaltalk getting a lot of interest over #MARCHintosh. ..or at least the stress of all those zones is causing this to hang undoubtedly due to an error in...
Thanks for all that information everybody. All very interesting!
I need to find some complicated PDFs to print then. So far I've not seen any errors myself, but I've only been printing simple text files and images direct from Photoshop. The printer is now available on #Globaltalk (my zone is...
It's a German company https://duston.de/ but I bought via Amazon as I've been stung a few times recently with custom duties (I'm live in the UK and have French family so I regularly curse Brexit).
Just thought I just update this thread with where I ended up!
After that fifth rebuild it still misfed. Turns out that if you do not replace that foam with something non-conductive then the metal lever get's magnetised for a very brief period and sticks long enough to cause the misfeed. Another...
I know exactly what you mean. Only issue is that I am now a bit complacent and my little jar of screws seems to have more and more screws after each stripdown. I'm just forgetting to put them all back.
