Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
If you're only getting a single dot, it sounds like the deflection is not working at all, which might be an issue with the yoke or the analog board circuitry, not the flyback.
Does anyone know what the thread pitch for one of the crt screws is? I picked up an SE/30 recently that, turns out, is missing one of the screws holding the CRT in. I can get the other dimensions from the other screws but I don't have anything precise enough to get the pitch. Basically, my plan...
Awesome job. You're keeping these things alive for decades by doing this.
Would the same (going from a 6 to 4 layer board) be possible for a IIsi? It's a much smaller board.
Interesting. It seems like you're really close. Unfortunately, I don't really know why your machine is behaving the way it is. The only thing I can think of is that when I got a similar screen to the lined one, it was because I was shorting two of the debugging pins on the side of the board (as...
I don't plan on throwing anything away, but I am currently looking into making the IIsi case into my next gaming PC. I'll keep everyone updated if it seems like it will work (the dimensions are really tight).
Yup, if you check my post history you can find my thread on a restoration I did.

the best PowerPC G3 is the minitower IMO, or the B&W if you're up for it. If you want an earlier machine, I'd recommend a 040 machine you can find for cheap, or a 030 machine if you can't find the former. System 7 runs reasonably well on my IIci and I don't see a reason to shell out hundreds...
I've been trying to do some C++ programming using Codewarrior 8 gold, and I was wondering if you guys might know how to import libraries into a project? For example, I'm trying to build a basic C ray-tracer as a kind of proof-of-concept, but I'm stuck on the part where I need to output the...
That's vertical collapse, which if I remember correctly is usually a capacitor issue, no?
At the very least, I would check J1's solder joints and replace the capacitor at C1, it's an important capacitor for the display and is BIPOLAR, despite looking like a normal polar electrolytic capacitor...
I think someone was working on a way to replace it, but I don't remember what the project was called. It's probably somewhere on here, though.
Why do you feel it's shorted?
Interesting. I got that effect when I shorted the pins on the side of the board to test my battery-bombed classic. It wasn't the expected behavior, and I got the computer working only when I used a repro logic board.
If i had to guess the reason for your computer doing it, I'd say either one (or...
