Yeah, it kinda is... This limitation is clearly stated on the page and this is a hobbyist niche product. Just don't buy it if it bothers you, there are plenty of folks that will be glad to live with this limitation and if it ends up in some future hands that person can google and find about...
I guess you are out of luck, you can't have two devices with the same MAC address on the same network. Don't think this is a problem for most folks but I guess if you are trying to outfit a lab or something it could be. Definitely glad this is out there even with this limitation vs. not out...
I haven't found an IDE mSATA adapter and card that will work in my Lombard, including that Ableconn that I use successfully in my 3400, Pismo, iBook G4 and Mac mini G4. There has got to be something about the IDE controllers used in the generation of machines between the 3400 and the Pismo...
I recall my high school computer science teacher getting a 5300/100 in 1995 when we were learning to program in his class using Turbo Pascal on Classic II's. We were all amazed. I'd love to find a reasonable 5400 (dreamworld be a black 5500)
Curious, what's the downside of the AFP server functionality? Do you have another solution for that or just prefer sneaker net?
Years ago I setup a Raspberry Pi sever running MacIPRpi (which has many useful features) and quickly found it to be instrumental in how I work with my retro Macs on my...
Sure, other than the somewhat unique (cool IMHO) way it connects to and is powered by one host via AAUI it’s just an Ethernet hub.
I wonder if Asante manufactured this for Apple, it’s a lot like their “NetEXtender 5 Port Hub“ just with AAUI instead of AUI:

Probably a long shot but anyone have a Umax SuperMac c600 (any config) they might want to part with? I have a 1MB inline cache board that wants to be reunited with one! (tested good in my c500, but can't leave it in there for mechanical reasons)
Awesome! I certainly understand it may take some time.
I also run my MacIPRpi 24/7 (Raspberry Pi 4 2MB w64GB SD card) and primarily use it for a bunch of things:
Retro computing file server ("bridge server" instead of "bridge machine" awesome client compatibility!)
Print server for my...
I was able to test an ATI Rage 128 PCI card in my 4400, with nothing connected to the on-board video, and my NEC MultiSync LCD1550V connected directly to the Rage card, it all worked fine. This is under Mac OS 8.6 but I don't think that matters much, I think the 4400 is able to tell nothing is...
@mactjaap Any chance you might be working on a new MacIPRpi release? I use the heck out of my little RPi 4 MacIPRpi 5.02 but would love to pick up the latest Netatalk updates, not sure I'd be able to pull off the upgrade on my own (in addition to a Raspbian upgrade I should likely do).
The response seems reasonable to me. It seems unreasonable to feel entitled to the product of someone else's work as well as to question their completely reasonable approach to something akin to computing history preservation and restoration in producing a high quality version of these Bezels.
These Mini DIN 5 connectors do fit the in the PK Pro 200 quite nicely! Soldering seems no worse than the tiny stuff we do on logic boards, no? I guess I’ll let you know!
I would like to have a fully capable cable. I guess the benefit for using it with a machine that already supports soft power...
