Hi Trag, you don’t happen to have handy those “latest” ati drivers…? Or a link? I have to use 9.1 because the USB driver will not work with the Sonnet combo usb/firewire card I use in the mac…
Ok — I admit I have to throw the towel here. For some reason, I believe due to the card I have, DosDude’s on card flashing doesn’t work. I used two identical chips and a third different one and it always fails. I would purchase a programmer, however I cannot afford the one needed as it easily...
Are you trying to boot the CC from the external port without having a drive inside? Or without anything in the machine? the internal cable, since it’s always connected, needs to be always properly terminated- use i.e. another hd. some machines are more sensitive to this than others…. Just a thought.
Strange, have you checked termination power?
as I recall it is possible to boot from a floppy - that was how you installed the os on the CC. Not sure what you want to do with it tho.
Wasnt there a specific software on the 6500? Do you have the original install CD? i can take a look on my old HD if there’s some specific app or control panel.
In case, I have a couple a/v boards dirt cheap if you need one and yours is broken. They’re not worth much.
I use a dead 486 cpu. Cut away the leg at the root, round part with a cheap but very sharp wood chisel and carefully solder it on the broken pin location after filing it down to have a flat surface. A 486 has perfectly identical pins all the way to the 68040. Repaired a few over the years.
Well, I can confirm the problem being the ATI radeon 7000 Installer 1.0 for os 9. Running the mac without extensions and having said installer remove the drivers makes the machine boot normally. I'll try earlier drivers posted by unknoun-K and report here....
….yes, I have a 350/1mb g4 zif, but I tried it today and it freezes exactly as described in this thread.
i have a g3/mt rev C fw, the VR is a Rockwell and not a Royal. I also have a flashed r7000 with 64mb vram
That was GREAT
i managed to make it boot however it freezes hard once it loads the extensions in 9.2.2 - I have a flashed r7000 and installed the ? latest ? Driver for it.
but at least it’s a step forward!!!!
You need to clean out VERY well the contacts in the harness connector... or replace it outright, harnesses do not cost much. I think the worst part of the job in making a Takky is modding the case and this is already been done.
oh my god that is a battery bombed 630 LB, and the connector to the harness is completely corroded my condolences
I was under the impression the 6200 LB was the one inside the CC you purchased -- my bad
