@jmacz , doing the same for Trinitron tubes LCD replacement is much, much easier! And the effect is fantastic, until the mac is turned on it looks 100% original. did this on a Color Classic, however it can be done with any Trinitron based Mac or monitor….
A Flyback transformer can be part of a tuned circuit, so even extremely similar models cannot be exchanged (see the FBT of the 575 and the one of the CC analog boards - they differ by one last digit!) and there are as many types and kinds as there are transistors. Doubtful that a “generic“...
That is SO far out of my capacity it’s not funny unfortunately…. I’d love to be able to do something like that. However it does not sound cheap either.
Yeep, that is it - plus, you’d be tied to a specific panel, and if the source for that panel dries up,
youre back to square one. That is why I decided to simply offer a dsub video out connector on the ab
That is not something you can do at analog board level, as the driver board is still separate - what I am doing is simply routing the video signal to a VGA connector that feeds a lcd monitor. I’m cheap: I have a source of 8.2” 800x600 lcd monitors that integrate the driver board and panel for...
@Phipli , I believe that there was an attempt to make a minimum order from one of the last couple or three chinese transformer factories that still make FBTs for the SE 30 part, the minimum order then was around 100 pieces at 120 $ each, factoring in shipping, import taxes etc; at 1000 pieces...
In my case, I am trying to build a replacement AB to supply the power and function as an interface between the LB and an LCD for the Color Classic. I have a fully functional front panel that would work with a Mystic lb and another that is already perfectly working in a sort-of Takky build. For...
Plus, there’s no way you will easily make a 3dfx work in a Takky 575, not only because it is already difficult to make it work in a stock 6500 - trust me, I tried! - but because in a Takky mod you’d have to reroute the vga signals out the logic board to the card and back to the internal crt…...
Well, there is a very interesting fact about these machines, the ABS of the color classic is seemingly completely different than the plastic that was used in the 575… matter of fact while most of the 575s have crumbled to pieces just by looking at them, most of the color classic cases that I’ve...
Not sure if there is any issue if it is SATA inside and not IDE, I have an old Lacie drive that connects with Usb 2, Firewire 400 and 800 that is powered from a wall ac adapter. I can check if it works with the Lamp iMac g4 I’ve got - surprisingly, I never got around to try it…
I did that, replaced the psu in my old 6200 with the guts of a brand new SFX form factor unit I purchased from Amazon for 27 Euro. The effort is almost the same as recapping the original psu but with vastly superior results. The original psu is incredibly crappy so that not one I found ever...
None of these will work unless you build a Takky 575, which, btw, would be supercool due to the larger and much better crt and 640x480 native resolution…. not to mention the CD-rom player etc etc.
Congratulation, that accelerator is basically unobtanium, and worth a pretty penny!
Some nice moneyshots of the LB and the Presto card would be very welcome!
That is so weird, the TAM is essentially a 6500 board, which I am playing with even nos and I never seen some like this…. Maybe the battery was not simply dead but also shorted out?
I hear you. All the machines that have spin drives are the ones I fire up once or twice a year. And I have an image of those drives. The rest have either a blu/zulu or whatever SCSI to SD or for ide, solid state of eny kind.
