Hey guys. I just recapped a dyna comp PSU. I tried to test it on my LCII and it didnt do anything. No power to computer. I assume that this thing is compatible with my LC. Previously I had recapped a TDK and this one didn't give me any trouble. Anyone ever work on the Dyna Comp model and...
No matter what I do it tells me the disk is unreadable and do I want to initialize. I’m definitely only turning a hair. I wonder if I’m doing something wrong that has nothing to do with tuning the motor and that is causing the unreadable disk issue. I know it’s a good disk. I know that my...
This one does nothing when I insert a disk. It will seat and eject but will not read or write. it doesn't spin or anything. If it wasn't for the eject motor, I would think it's not getting power. Is this a sign that it needs a recap?
Hey guys. I have spent two days working with an 800k floppy drive and I can't seem to get it to behave properly. I won't bore you with a detailed play by play but I'll summarize what I have done:
1. Disassembled, cleaned (99 IPA) and relubed ejection mechanism
2. Cleaned heads with 99 IPA...
Thank you for this explanation! I think I should have found a "practice" logic board to mess with when playing with ROMs and sockets. It seems pretty clear to me that I ruined the existing sockets by attempting to install the ROMinator and then "cleaning". They aren't making good contact...
The ROMinator has wider pins? How would that create a problem if it snaps into the socket? I can see how the pins being too SMALL would make a difference b/c of bad contacts but not if they are too BIG. Please explain, no comprende.
I don't have a lot of faith in my ability to repair this thing. I think it's worth a shot, but I'd like to have a back up as well.
Do you know what kind of sockets I need? I looked on Google and didn't have much luck.
idk, I think I might just get a new logic board. I don't even know what kind of sockets I need. You have any idea? Also, the holes on the logic board are a bitch to desolder.
Okay I’m here to admit complete defeat. I cleaned the ROM sockets on the logic board like someone suggested and now I get the picture shown. I suspect that not knowing what I was doing, I ruined the existing sockets. So neither the stock rom nor the ROMINATOR work on this Mac Plus. Time to...
I'm really beginning to hate this thing. After swapping out and resoldering the R/W wire to the Mac Plus CPU, I fiddled with the damn Rom-inator some more. I thought it was finally updating the ROM using the Flash Tool and then...the computer froze. I powered down, restarted, and it started...
