    Mac Hardware Hacking Ideas

The two I would use most would be the magic turn-on peripheral (especially if it worked with all or nearly all Macs) and the adapter for modern keyboards and mice, in that order. At the moment all of my computers have working power buttons and/or keys and mice and keyboards, but not all...

    Kaleidoscope!

That would be nice! Though honestly, I've grown used to the nagging since I've had the unregistered version of Kaleidoscope on all of my Macs (minus the Plus) for 20 years - my whole life.

    Kaleidoscope!

Websites disappearing is the reason why the Wayback Machine exists. If there's a site you love check to see if the Machine has a version of it... and if not (or if you want to add the current version), they have a "Save Page Now" option right on the homepage. Use it! Your future self will thank...

    Kaleidoscope!

Today I was feeling nostalgic, and I wanted to find some of the Kaleidoscope schemes I loved as a kid. Unfortunately the original official website is no longer online, but I was able to find it using the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. As far as I know you can't get a preview of the schemes...

Best of luck, keep us posted! :) Do you have a link to the original thread you posted? I can't seem to find it... :O

    How to clean/repair ADB mice?

When I was in elementary school the library had a table of iMac G3s, with the original hockey puck mice. The "popular" thing to do was to hold the mice by the cord and whack each other with the mouse end when the teacher wasn't looking. LOL Good times. :p

LC II to hold me over

Ah, gotcha. :) Might have to look into a program like that, been curious about Windows 1 through 3.x lately.

    Breakthrough!

That bomb screen reminds me a lot of the Atari ST. Not something I would expect from a Mac, which is cool!

LC II to hold me over

Nice find! :) Never heard of SoftPC, what does it do?

    Bondi Blue iMac Power Issue

Ouch... did a more thorough Google search and a G3 power supply isn't cheap! 8-o I'll say something in the Trading Post soon, but at the moment I don't have all the tools for a teardown handy and need to find out more about how to be safe around high voltage. I'm a bit paranoid after some less...

    Bondi Blue iMac Power Issue

I'll replace the power supply when I get a chance, and check caps also. I'm thinking of taking some pics to show y'all, maybe you'll see something I missed. ;) For quite a while before the computer died the first time it was taking several pushes of the power button before turning on normally...

    Apple IIc complete set restoration

Wow, it did come out great! Just curious, do you have any pictures of before the treatment?

Stuck Mac Classic II Interrupt Button!

I'll give that a try soon, though the family asked if Chip could stay with me for a bit since they're having a bit of a problem making room for him so my bondi iMac has become my first priority. :) Something weird happened just now. I was moving Chip to a spot where the cat doesn't go very...

    Bondi Blue iMac Power Issue

IT LIVES!!! Kinda. The new-to-us keyboard we bought arrived last night, and today we took the iMac out of the closet and plugged it in. When we pressed the button it chimed and started making noise! :D The monitor took its sweet time to turn on - when it finally did the computer was already...

Stuck Mac Classic II Interrupt Button!

I'll definitely take a look next time I have a chance. How would you suggest washing boards? I've heard of several methods and it's honestly a bit confusing to someone who has zero experience with it.

Stuck Mac Classic II Interrupt Button!

The code is 0000000F 0000000D (the number of zeroes may not be right, too tired to count them all).

Stuck Mac Classic II Interrupt Button!

Back in October I told the story of a little boy's first Sad Mac. If anyone wants to read it the link to the post is here. Well, the story continues! In January the family acquired a Classic II, which the boy named Chip. From the outside everything looked good, but guess what greeted them the...

    Bondi Blue iMac Power Issue

Well, since I don't have a working Bondi keyboard or mouse a family member bought me both on eBay. We're hoping that the power button on this keyboard works, since the keyboard (and mouse) that originally came with the iMac died before the computer did. If everything goes the way we want it to...

    New World Sad Mac Equivalent?

Ah yeah, that makes sense with the O+F in the key combo. :p Is the error instead of the prompt the only difference between the OF screen and the crash screen?

    Bondi Blue iMac Power Issue

Thank you!!! It was hard to find the relevant part, but it made a lot of sense once I found it. Next time I can get the right tools I'll take a look (though I'll admit I'm a bit of a scaredy-cat when it comes to electricity, LOL). And that's great luck with your Mac, is it still working well?
